He has a 5 day couse in New England in Feb, not sure what's going on after that. I can't afford it this year, else I'd be heading down.

I could have been more clear there. Both tree tools, and splicing tools. He has splicing kits available at the course and they're very well thought out. Ours had 3 wire fids, a sweedish fid, 2 key lock biners that are more than large enough to get your hand through (great for pulling your...
If @markprz is doing one of his Fids and Fibres courses anywhere near you, go. I drove ~5 hours to get to the one he did up here in the great white north, and I would gladly do that drive for it again. Hands on experience with a fantastic teacher. His instructions are much more clear than the...
It's funny how times have changed. About i years ago, I posed a quesrion on one of the UK forums about sewing my own eyes, and was ridiculed quite severely for even thinking about trying such a thing.
As far as sending it down to treestuff, I'm on the wrong side of the 49th parallell for that...
The 8mm is what I have.
I sent them the same link as the one posted above, and asked which method of splicing they recommended. This is the response that I received.

Here is some of what I have been up to.
Pinto Rig loopie and XRing rigging sling.
Yale Guardian and Treestuff Branch Saver saw lanyards.
21' tenex ultra sling.

I gor a 100' hank of a blue 12 strand two carrier rope that is much stiffer than the tenex im used to. The blue is much richer than the blue tenex that ive used, and the rope is quite stiff.
We just have a policy that we never do guesstimates. If they arent patient enough to wait 24 hours, at most, for us to see the tree, they likely arent that interested in having the wotk done.
Saves a lot of problems when they forgot to mention that the entire tree leans out over a glass...
