Not with a crane.
I have sooo much rope, I have dedicated lines.
I do need to replace 2 of them but, having so many to choose from, and assigned to certain tasks, makes them last much longer.
My 200' rope will be dedicated to setting crane slings with it's device. This one will be fore a 2...
Using my ZZ on a spar so much, doing crane work, it becomes a second flip line/lanyard .....
Now I want a zillion. I never wanted one before. Wish it was sold separately.
Anyone have one they want to sail? Hit me up......
Yea I hear ya but, meh....if I'm buying a device to live on a rope, it'll be the ZZ. And my 200'er is a Yale.
A virgin Calamine. But the Throttle may not like it? Except for MRS....which would be the purpose. Still defeats the hankering for a midline removable to share with other ropes.
ZZ or...
Saw a negative review of the Throttle via youtube. He called it high priced garbage .... or something like that.
He only tried 2 different ropes but then again, it's supposed to be a rope friendly device. I should have offered him $250 for it.
Like a 3 hole Safe block ..... or whatever those were called. I like this idea. I use gloves to provide the extra friction now. Would prefer bare back hands tough. I burn through a couple pair a month.
I'm leaning a bit towards another ZZ .... to live on the rope.
I like my Lockjack but I see it wearing excessively fast, for crane work, with it's aluminum components.
Considering the BDB.
I have a Lockjack on a shorter 16-strand. I do not remember it being midline attachable. If I switch this over to my 200' I would need the smaller cam for 11.7 rope.
Just coming back from viewing it online, I realize it is a midline device. Brings me more options. I may just get another rope...
Last week I was riding the ball and setting straps for our new climber. He stayed in the crotch making the cuts. I like this method as it practically doubles production. Also much easier to bomb out of the long horizontals and not walk back to the base.
Removed a big cotton wood with sprawling...
As a contract climber, I should care less. One outfit I frequent, now books 98% of my schedule. I am so busy with them, I give them priority of scheduling. So why do I care? Last Mon was a new hire's 1st day. Same day that we had some 40mph wind gusts, cold and breezy day. I'm up there waiting...
Absolutely. The owners younger brother, who works with us, brought him in. The brother is a hard worker but is friends with this guy. I have respect for the brother. I wonder how well he really knows him.....
We'll see what happens.
Enough derailment. Back to our regular scheduled program...
Yea, I hear ya. He's no kid for sure. Late 30s to early 40s. Today was his 3rd day. The company owner only works with the crew on abnormally large jobs. He doesn't see all that's going on. I'm the only one that saw the bad performance today. I didn't keep it a secret though. Shared with crane op...
Where it gets me is when I'm in the tree and I'm watching the ground crew between picks. Not including the crane op or the foreman, there will be 3 guys busting ass while 2 are looking for excuses to sit idly. For example, a new hire of 3 days in, has to check his phone every 10 mins, chat with...
I agree whole heartedly on this. Throughout my working life, I've always bitched about salaries not keeping up with the cost of living.
But, I did not let that become a slacker of myself. I do not lean on others, or hold my hand out as many in youth do in recent times. I have always held my...
