    Cordless Drill for GRCS (?)

I'd been away on a long term consulting gig for a couple years. Apparently the drill didn't want to come off of vacation. Just won't start. I'm sure that a service center can overcome that issue. I'm just glad that I was sufficiently equipped so that I didn't lose any time on the task.

    Cordless Drill for GRCS (?)

I've got the Super Hawg in both the corded and M18 configurations. I was pulling stuff the other day and my M18 croaked. I keep an Eco Flow 1000 watt solar generator in my truck, so I plugged the corded unit into that and kept on pulling.

I'll bet Ford is feeling pretty silly right about now, about phasing out their Fusion line.

Municipal planting contract - enforcing specs

Before spinning your wheels on anything, it would be important to go over the RFP, to establish whether any standards for the condition of the plant material, and or planting specifications, were specified. If the city didn’t specify it, they are not going to be able to turn around and try to...

    Home security camera systems

I replaced my previous motion sensitive porch light with a FEIT unit that encompasses a bluetooth security camera. Feed comes right my phone. It's got ongoing surveillance capabilities (Infra Red black and white images after sunset). My phone chirps whenever something activates it. You can...

Does this old damage justify removing limbs?

You've got nice ribs of wound wood forming along the margins of the wounds. Given time those wounds may become totally occluded, in the meantime they've been substantially reinforced.

No apology needed Kevin. I've never read a post of yours, which didn't rate re-reading!

    Climbing pine with spurs?

With bags on both ends of the line, it's pretty easy to overshoot the whole tree (especially with an air cannon), and then manipulate the line backwards and forwards to eventually isolate a suitable union to climb into. A lot of newbies make the mistake of trying to hit the union directly...

    Climbing pine with spurs?

Just smile and think of how "leveled-up" your throwline skills will be after you figure this out! If you're having difficulty throwing to the height you need, you can experiment with different throwlines and different sized weights

    Anyone working Hurricane Ian?

I thought I'd link a thread I just opened, for an option to do post storm recovery work from a different perspective. https://www.treebuzz.com/forum/threads/post-hurricane-ian-field-consulting-utility-work-in-florida-for-atlas-field-services.47362/

Post Hurricane Ian Field Consulting Utility Work in Florida for Atlas Field Services

I spoke with my colleague Matt Parker of Atlas Field Services, and he told me he wants to fill field consulting positions needed to re-establish the grid in parts of Florida hit by Ian. Personally, I hate vague job offers, so I tried to get all the pertinent information. Here's the skinny...

    Blake's Hitch slipping

Brand new ropes don't behave like well broken in lines. A waxy coating is applied at the factory to facilitate the manufacturing process and the ropes come out of the factory as smooth as glass. New ropes don't have the extra surface area and friction that the fuzzy surface of a broken in rope...

John’s Custom Saws build nightmare, what would you do?

Maybe he meant "Under-The-Influencers". Seriously, anytime I hear anybody use a term like "Influencer" with a straight face, I think to myself "Isn't that cute, the baby just tried to make up a new word!" Peace Cerviarborist Internet Flatulencer

Help me save a 200+ year old specimen beech.

One of the keys to getting a 200 year old beech tree to become a 300 year old beech tree, is to adjust your expectations of the trees appearance away from that of a 150 year old beech tree. Veteran trees can continue to consolidate and maintain their diminishing form quite well. All these...

Is this dead tree removal plan workable?

Do you have any mechanical advantage pulling devices in your rigging kit? Fiddleblocks and a Portawrap? A buddy with a GRCS? Personally I’d much rather lower the tree than try to catch it.
