Thanks. I had shit load of brush still to winch and chip from the day before at another site. It playing on my mind throughout the morning. That and trying to get a line in the tree first thing didn't put me in the most positive place.
There was a previous acess line already set at 150 ft, much...
Id never put something around my neck whilst climbing a tree. I know people do, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
Some more wrenching yesterday. A 200 footer.
It's been around for a long time. But in residential work it's just as easy to leave stubs. You just need to be sure to go deep enough. I always cut down at least a bar width. Thanks.
It's lands at the pad for about a minute, while you get in and buckle up. It took off, then lost power. The pilot was somehow still able to aim it at the pad. It hit the pad and rolled off. If it'd just got a little further away, say 20, 30 seconds, it wouldve been curtains for all on board I'd say.

On this job, you have to be self sufficient. So, wedges, axe, fuel, radio, whistle need to be worn up the tree. You climbline also needs to be bundled/packed and carried up there. You cant trail it on the ground or it might get trapped by a falling branch.....because there is no ground support...
Thanks. If the trees are lose enough together, then yes, grapple across to save some climbing.
The 201tc wasn't mine....I was trying it out. Yeah pretty good saw. I was there for 6 days. That was just a handful of video clips put together. Back again next week.
Two opposing cuts are made at...
If you've never heard of this. The selected trees in a forest are stripped, topped and appropriately flagged. They are then cut at the bottom all for a strip of holding wood in the centre....and picked by sky crane helicopter at a later date. A better alternative to clear cutting I believe. Some...
