I’ve looked a bit but have yet to do a deep dive in the Buzz archives so sorry if this has been gone over.
EAB is hitting pretty hard this year. We had a big set of Ash removals
to be major differences in the strength of different trees right next to each other. Enough to give me a little bit...
Crazy, I was just gonna post the same thing. 2nd busy season after a summer season of good reviews has me a bit overwhelmed. Looking forward to hearing from the more experienced.
Massive ash mortality here in MN the past year. Homeowners all of a sudden saying “my tree looks diseased” as they walk their yards after a particularly long winter. Most are too far gone :(
Unsure if this is the proper way to post this, but figured I might post a video of tying it.
Not a good matchup of hitch chord to ring size, but this is the most basic sticht form. Stopper knot can go other places, I just like how short it is when placed here.
Also ignore unset single...
PA hospitality, eh? We are spending the least amount of time in this area, tis a shame. I will let you guys know. Hoping to swing Longwood now for sure!
Renting a chipper this week for a clearing job, just curious about the potential lawn impact of these machines. Pulled by a mini. Plywood will be laid but just curious nonetheless.
Have a weeklong vacation in early June. Flying in to Philadelphia, headed to Scranton for a wedding, Albany NY for some family, then Burlington / Plattsburgh. Only have so much time but anyone have arbortourism suggestions? The wife has given me free reign to take the most convoluted route...
I watched a Gilman lecture recently where he mentioned this and I believe also confirmed in A New Tree Biology. not detrimental alone but may tip the scales if something goes wrong. Something along those lines. I will try to find the book passage if I remember next time I pull it out.
the friction comes from the climbing rope in the groove of the ring, not the hitch chord i believe. I have had the best luck with the pinto spacer in place of a thimble.
Trying to get feedback on a unicender as lanyard adjuster. I put a quickie as my lanyard termination, which it turns out is the shit, and now SRT lanyard 95% of the time. I currently use a sticht which I love dearly but I’m looking for even better nice low-sitback mechanical tending. I like the...
Long lanyards are super cool but I also switched to 12’ single ended lanyard and it has been my biggest advancement in ergonomics and stress reduction in quite awhile. The long lanyard turned out to be a false sense of security. I carry a long prussik to setup a 2nd ended lanyard if needed...
