New to me. Was camping on a sea island near Edisto and heard a Jet flying low and fast nearby. Caught movement out of the corner of my eye. It was a turkey vulture in an extremely high speed dive! They can dive at over 60 mph and do this as part of their courtship ritual. I watched a couple of...
Rec climber. Love our neighbor. Fixed income recluse who probably is mortified by what this dude is doing. Much to think about. Single party recording state.
My 97 year old mother in law's dumbass neighbor has hired a hack to cut down 5-6 big trees. A-hole is limbing the stems with zero rigging. Limbs on/over her fence. 10" diameter, 25 foot long branch on her front lawn. Then drives away with no cleanup for a week or so. I dragged the big one back...
Happy Birthday USA!
Wife and I are going for a hike on a local sea island. Going to specifically check out the gator pond for dinosaurs, both gators and hopefully wood storks. Then the local deer herd. I usually see up to 30 on a couple mile hike, and hope she will too.
Then it's steak fillets...
Cool vest works for me when I'm riding my forklift in the warehouse in our hellish summers. Definitely does NOT work when I'm doing something active, like riding my dirt bike. Just nowhere near enough BTU of cooling available in the frozen gel to last very long, and then it becomes a hot vest. :-)
That is a spectacular tree. I spent the night in Hell Hole Swamp and saw many around 4-5 feet diameter. The one in this photo is about 4' across and towers over the tall pines, even with the entire top half missing.
However, as impressive as those trees were, I can't imagine the awesomeness of...
I am a total rookie. If I have a nice top anchor, I'll use two lanyards to climb to another point, carrying the original climbing rope with me, and when I get to where I want to be, I pull out the retrievable anchor (butterfly/quickie choker) and reset my new anchor. One issue I very...
4' diameter live oak. Looks very healthy, with new growth on all limbs and no visible holes or caverns. No bugs that I can see. No woodpeckers.
This mushroom is 11" across. My mil says it grew over the last two weeks. Soft and pliable, like an Italian drier. Spongy on the underside.
My guess...
Also thinking that tether is a huge no-go. I understand it might pull down to engage the teeth, but it also looks like it could pull the wrong way and literally disengage the teeth.
You may be right. Maybe it is a system that you need to pull tension on each time you want to move, and perhaps it will take a sharp tug. I haven't used mine enough to know.
