    Cabling.... what do you use?

I use All Gear synthetic 1/2 inch on a lot of lighter stuff and would like to see a Rigguy type hard plastic fitting for it and the 3/4 inch stuff. I believe it would be a winner. No need to split out strands, jusyslip part into the hollow middle of the material. Only issue I see is reduced...

    Tree body

Don't let dry heat fool you. I was on a fire in Idaho where we had 98 degrees and 9% humidity. Was real easy to let hydration issues mess you up.

    Tree body

I wish 80's was as hot as it would get here. Next 4 months we can count the number of 80's days we will have on one hand. Norm will be 90's at least with heat indexes up to108. Keep hydrated, start early and break often. Potassium and magnesium supplements on han as well.

    Burr oak crack in trunk

Definitely an awesome tree. I would check the root flare carefully around the base and in that spot particularly. Farm implement may have damaged a root a distance from the trunk. I would not condem that tree though and you will get the chance to measure it .

    ITCC in Atlanta...MUST READ

I called the GAA today which is the Georgia chapter of ISA and offered Columbus for the site. Was told ISA is looking at Savannah but we are a LOT closer to Hartsfield-Jackson than Savannah. Hope they at least look at us.

    ITCC in Atlanta...MUST READ!

Atlanta has the most dense tree canopy of any city in the country. The police training site has been a controversy for about 2 years or so because of the forest it is removing. Whether they have passed stop gap ordinances to prevent tree climbing I don't know but it seems a reasonable knee perk...

    Changing the Safety Culture

Do your own internal WC audit. Look over the past 5, 10 years worth of claims and see if there is a pattern or particular employee/crew that jumps out at you and what kind of injuries are happening.

    I had to comment!

First of all Chauncy, yes, I am to quote you "the tree police". I am a sworn enforcement officer charged with enforcing the local municipal tree ordinance. Our ordinance requires that tree services hold a city issued license that involves passing written and field test that demonstrates...

City mode. I commented OSHA would love that move. Their comment was it was easier than climbing for one small branch.

Looking for a used handle/scabbard for a practice handsaw for comps!

Just a note of caution. When you grind the teeth off like that, the blade does not hold in n the scabbard as well and it is prone to falling out of the scabbard. Taped teeth tend to hold better I have found. Also a lanyard on the saw helps. Remember, dropped gear equals DQ.
