This thread makes me feel a lot better about paying for insurance.
While I can somewhat agree with @tomstrees on the basis of “ I’m careful, low danger so insurance is just unnecessary”.
There is just too many ways for that to go sideways, many which were pointed out by @Reach . I’m glad to...
Truck signage is good I think. I’ve seen multiple people stop and photo the truck. It helps that it’s an unusually clean square body truck for my location. Most of the older trucks around here are rusting away at the junk yard, so my truck stands out
I’m amazed that I’ve gotten any calls from my startup website, and I’m in the process of getting some help to improve it thru the small business development center.

If you don’t mind sharing, what kind of budgets does everyone have for their website upkeep/development...
Plenty of timber to fell on that track. I had a working interview of sorts that went well so there’s good winter work for me if the pay and production can get sorted
I’m in a similar situation, small and just starting out. About a month ago I drove around and left some notes and cards with basically the same message you described- “I saw that dead tree, here I am-call if you want”. I got some business that way and fortunately did not experience any...
This devolved quickly :ROFLMAO:
yikes that does create quite a challenge.
The ones we trapped often took a few tries , and this was on a 120a campus.
The squirrel cannon is an entertaining thought.
Maybe some owl/hawk decoys in some of the most important trees could be used?
It’s not a fix...
That’s terrible news, regarding the damage and death wrought upon important landscape trees.
I worked on a retirement community campus for awhile where a lot of people had bird feeders, which in turn fed the squirrels. Because they gorged themselves on bird seed and suet bricks they did not...
Hard to tell, but by the description it sounds like 3-4hours on site and perhaps the logistics of getting setup and brush out being the most tedious part?
Half day rate or thereabouts
All good points, thanks for the comments and suggestions.
At this point I’m happy for the work but of course I’m interested in improving. everyone’s combined knowledge will certainly help speed that along!
Nothing on the schedule for today so I plan on taking some time to reevaluate pricing...
In my market and with that particular client I doubt he would have bit at $500. It was priced to include some other work and the commute is only 5 blocks, so that is important as well
The hangers I got were gratuitous/on my way.
Yep it’s a Siberian and I’m beginning to not like them very much!
I knocked it out solo in about 5 hours start to finish being leisurely about it, full cleanup.
Priced it at $350
Reload!
I knocked out this elm prune today- about a 9” limb over the house and driveway+ a few hangers.
Great lift access. Forestry bucket would have been ace on this one- no street parking but decent driveway
What would you put on it?
