Sorry, there is brush from an unaffected crabapple in some of the photos.
It was the top of a few of the leads in a spreading 25' maple. The affected areas were mostly localized. I'm sorry I didn't get a photo of the tree...
The cuttings all looked clean even in the worst sections. It looked healthy other than the leaf size, and shape (rippled), and the fact that the tips of the branches had dropped all the leaves but were still very green twigs. The leaf growth was all weirdly clustered too. I didn't see any...
What is this?
This was an isolated area in a red maple crown. The rest of the tree looked good. I couldn’t find any green coloring in the cambium and the leaves don’t quite look like verticillium wilt. Is this just obvious and I’m blanking at the moment?
Richard, I like it. Although, like climbstihl said, besides being the names of animals those acronyms have been used before. I very much like the idea of distinguishing between the anchor locations. I also commented on your video with the user name ArboriCole. Thanks.
Thanks for all the...
It says, "is less prone than the Bowline to shake loose." I was thinking this knot looked promising, but I thought I would ask to see if anyone was using it in any application.

How many of you have experience using the Double Dragon Loop?
I usually use the alpine butterfly when rigging a tree with a pull line to create MA. I know the Alpine Butterfly doesn't typically like to be loaded heavily by the loop. Someone...
I'm just hoping that, a slightly better scenario, they are just storing the mulch there temporarily...but it looked so, so finished.
I have never seen something this absurd.
I would say either have a swivel on your bridge or on the BDB itself. If you use other devices without incorporated swivels I would tend to go with a swivel on the bridge and keep the teardrop on the BDB.
Thanks for all the advice. It's great to have this all to consider before I go see it in person. I am not a huge insect and disease guy so I really appreciate the pointers. I am trying to gain more experience and knowledge on this stuff. What is the best book on insects and diseases? I have...
Yeah, I haven't seen the tree yet in person, but it didn't look terrible to me from the photos. I know in this area the Colorado Spruce don't do that well in general. This tree is up on a property at the top of a hill. They are growing this and a few others as a windscreen and are hoping that...
Someone sent me this picture and I can’t quite tell for sure if this is needle cast. I know sending a sample into a lab would be recommended, but I am just curious what you all think. This tree also has bag worm on it... Thanks!
The BOLA can be used on a single leg of your lanyard without the working end returning to the climber. That is, I use the DMM captain hook on the secondary side of my lanyard and can traverse to another lead in the tree using the Bulldog style BOLA (the one with the rubber nubs) as the rope...
I already said it on YouTube under ArboriCole, but I may as well send my well wishes here as a Buzzer. I really appreciate your contributions over the years and am sad to hear about your eyesight. I experienced an injury to my left eye back in 2010 and now have to live with compromised vision...
