Less bounce: Xstatic vs Samson Ivy?

I've been logging some hours on Xstatic recently and appreciating the minimal bounce on ascent. Looking for another similar rope for SRS to add to the arsenal. Sherrill's/Sampson's Silver/Midnight Ivy are listed as having less elongation that Xstatic. I've climbed plenty of Yale's Poison Ivy...

    Samson Hyperclimb 150' like new

Oldoakman, washing - also a great idea, thanks! I do have several other new to me 11.7s that I'm trying out at the moment that are running well without any readjustment from my other ropes. So, for the time being my offer still stands for anyone who is interested in a basically new 150' hank...

    Samson Hyperclimb 150' like new

Nice, thanks a bunch for the betta Serf Life! I've heard others mention mondo milking with the hyper. Hard to go wrong with yale. Been climbing some scandere that seems pretty nice so far, super smooth and stays round even in mechanicals. Only have a fairly short hank, so haven't got a feel yet...

    Samson Hyperclimb 150' like new

Serf Life, do you find that you can switch back and forth between your Hyperclimb and Yale 11.7 without readjusting your BDB? I keep the adjustment on my BDB nearly wide open, with a light touch to move on my other 11.7's Yale, Cherry Bomb, Cougar puke, etc. I'm also a skinny little bugger, 150...

    Samson Hyperclimb 150' like new

Only have one short clean climb this hank of Hyperclimb. Nice rope, I just quickly realized that it slides through my bulldog as I have it adjusted for all my other 11.7's. Finished the climb with my Akimbo (that I don't often use) and it ran great. The BD is my go to device and I'm too lazy to...

Easier to let it run w/ lrg. or med. Port-a-Wrap?

Thanks for the continuing ed. Interesting, if I'm understanding correctly that, other factors being equal, steel produces more friction than aluminum. Mentally it seems harder material would equal smoother/slipperier, but viscerally aluminum does seem "greasy" when working in hand. Also...

Easier to let it run w/ lrg. or med. Port-a-Wrap?

All great bits'o'wisdom - Thanks! TreeSpyder, pretty sure I'm over simplifying, but (amongst other thoughts) are you saying that, all other factors being equal, with each added 180 degree arc of radial friction, there is a compounding result of produced friction? In other words for a given...

Easier to let it run w/ lrg. or med. Port-a-Wrap?

I've been using a size large Port-a-Wrap for many years now for most of my basic rigging. Probably a bit overkill, as I'm mostly using it for 1/2" line. When we rig 5/8" or 3/4" line, I usually switch up to the GRCS. I'm curious whether anyone can compare which size of Port-a-Wrap is easier to...

    Salsco 810M chipper clutch chirping

Hi Serf Life, are you based here in G'twn?? Yeah, Union is usually my first call, I got my M7060 through them, and they have been very helpful with other machines. However, I have learned over the years that they don't seem to have any familiarity at all with the 810M, even given their Salsco...

    Salsco 810M chipper clutch chirping

Anyone have experience with centrifugal clutches on Salsco 810M chippers? Or perhaps other machines with centrifugally engaging clutches? Mine has a rhythmic chirping sound when idling, clutch not engaged. I also noticed yesterday that the cutter disc was rotating slightly before the clutch was...

Arborjet QUIK-jet Air Kit - SOLD

I have for sale a QUIK-jet Air complete kit that was purchased from Treestuff last spring, and used on six projects injecting Ace-jet for brown tail moth caterpillars. All told this kit has injected about 50 trees, and was flushed at the end of every day with a water, then cleaner, then more...

Arborjet QUIK-jet Air Kit has SOLD

Mostly my schedule is pretty stacked up with enough climbing/rigging work - stick to what I know. They certainly seemed to take a hit with that long wet spring. Here's to hoping that they'er on there way out!

Quik-jet Air, FSeries Tree IV, or BioForest EcoJect??

That could be a good option. Do you have any first hand experience with how affective is it when soil injected? I do a lot of work in shore land zone where spray and soil injection are against code, so I would still need other options. But, it could still be a good item in the quiver.

Quik-jet Air, FSeries Tree IV, or BioForest EcoJect??

Anyone have any experience with the higher pressure FSeries Tree IV? Looks like I'd likely be injecting Ace-Jet for brown tail infestation. The dosage range for the average size trees I'd be treating runs about 50 - 100 mLs for injection, and 75 - 200 mLs for infusion (IV). I'm just wondering if...

Quik-jet Air, FSeries Tree IV, or BioForest EcoJect??

How would you say successful uptake is with the quick-jet air versus other systems, especially when conditions are drier, colder or hotter than ideal? I'm just thinking of needing to cram projects into the short season that we have here in Maine for brown tail injection. Thanks
