WTB - HYDRAULIC WINCH for BANDIT 12XP

Anyone else out there have experience with installing aftermarket winches on Bandits that went well?? Just curious. Thanks for all the input so far!

WTB - HYDRAULIC WINCH for BANDIT 12XP

Wow, that's quite a saga! I had an engine code issue with my 12xp that went in a similar trajectory with Bandit and a lame dealership that is several hours away, and almost a year later, I'm still not totally certain has been resolved. My scenario may not have been as extreme, but I definitely...

WTB - HYDRAULIC WINCH for BANDIT 12XP

Thanks I will look into whether a 19xpc winch would be compatible with my 12xp or not. What is the year and serial number of your 19xpc? I would still need to purchase the hydraulic installation kit from bandit and, of course, pay freight on getting the winch here to Maine. Thanks

WTB - HYDRAULIC WINCH for BANDIT 12XP

Analog, is your chipper a bandit? Did it already have the mounting plate for the winch? Or, did you have to fab the plate and hydraulics from scratch?

WTB - HYDRAULIC WINCH for BANDIT 12XP

Yes, the chipper has the factory mounting plate and hydraulic hookup. My Bandit dealer quoted $8k for the winch. I was wondering if there are any used winches out there? But taking note of Analog's comment, perhaps going new is the way to go?

Ramsey vs Dynamic winch for Bandit 12xp

DRBetz, do you happen to know whether the slower more powerful was a Ramsey or Dynamic? Definitely agree, I'll take slow/power over speed for tree work in general with other winches I used over the years.

Ramsey vs Dynamic winch for Bandit 12xp

I recently picked up a Bandit 12xp. Have always love these machines. This unit does not currently have a winch. In the market for a winch to install on this machine. Very curious about what experience people have had with Ramsey versus Dynamic hydraulic winches from Bandit for these machines...

    A solo negative rigging workflow

Thanks for the clear explanation of your thought process. Definitely impressed with how the downrigger performs compared to other AFDs, especially with regards to its ability to handle a much broader weight range of pieces. The midline attachability really increases its usefulness in more...

    A solo negative rigging workflow

Nice smooth system, that was sweet! Resulting from lack of available help in my region, I've spent the last decade solo rigging a fair amount. I do have a steady groundie now, but I definitely agree - nothing like the peace and acute focus of solo tree work. I just recently added the...

FTC Micro 2.1 vs Stein SMB1000

Yeah, that certainly sounds like the right thing to do. We'll probably just do the Muggs mod and work that for a while.

FTC Micro 2.1 vs Stein SMB1000

I have been thinking recently about welding aluminum fairleads, rubber blocks, and brackets on the back of the GRCS aluminum bollard to receive a 4" ratchet strap. It would have to be done right to take the load, but might make a pretty sweet rig in a light portable package. Or... just do the...

FTC Micro 2.1 vs Stein SMB1000

Thanks guys, love the Muggs mod, that's brilliant!! That's probably the best solution. We use our grcs 99% for lifting/lowering scenarios, and always feel like I'm not utilizing the nice aluminum bollard nearly enough for negative rigging bigger pieces. Honestly, I guess I'm just lazy. Like the...

FTC Micro 2.1 vs Stein SMB1000

FTC Micro 2.1 vs Stein SMB1000? Anyone have hands on experience with both of these devices? I mostly use a porty and a GRCS. Looking for something that's more portable and easier to set up solo than the GRCS, but smoother than the porty for letting pieces run.

    Compact Bulldog Bone

Sorry, I'm just chiming in now - been on some sequoia climbing trips with Ancient Forest Society, and tree work back here in Maine has been super busy. Not to mention I'm a technotard - not my strong suite. Ancient Forest Society has a number of research projects studying the giant sequoias in...

Less bounce: Xstatic vs Samson Ivy?

Rico, how would you say AllGear's newer 11.8's compare to the Ivy's in bounce, bout the same, more/less?

Less bounce: Xstatic vs Samson Ivy?

Thanks for that Rico. The Xstatic I'm running is only a 150'er, and I have been curious about it having a nylon core which usually equates stretch. I have a short hank of Cherry Bomb from when it was first released 10+ years ago? It's been a great rope, but it's also been a long time since I've...
