Since I just spent some money on a new rope runner pro, my "one in, one out" policy has been activated. I have for sale a Petzl i'd small (yellow) and a petzl i'd large (red). Small - I am the second owner. Purchased it as part of a bulk buy from another TB member years ago. Device has...

    WTB Rope Runner Pro

So I ended up buying a red/black color schemed one from Monarch Ropes for $329 shipped. That seemed like a hell of a sale so bit the bullet and got it. The unique color helped sway me too. These damn tree gear manufacturers sure got my number...

The Body Language of Trees - A handbook for failure analysis

    2. "We treat trees poorly. Just occasionally, we are repaid for our unkindness by mechanical failure of a tree and the dangers which it can entail."

    Replace this rope?

Seems like a perfect time to learn how to splice double braids!

The Body Language of Trees - A handbook for failure analysis

Buddy of mine found this book and sends me one passage a day. I've found them to be written in an interesting tone/perspective and have decided to share them here. I will add one per day, as I get them. 1. "Wound wood has a primary function to repair the mechanical support system, not to stop...

    Replace this rope?

Silver ivy is a double braid with a 6,500 lb MBS. Half the load is on the cover. Half the load is on the core. Even if you completely sever the cover, that rope will still hold 3,250 lb. The little bit of damage in your picture would not worry me. I'd be more concerned with how that section runs...

    Vermeer Bc1000xl computer cluster question

First time I've seen a vermeer with this digital control cluster. Can anyone tell me what the circle button does? I didn't have enough time to deep dive the manual and my quick searching in there did not return a definitive answer. Pic attached.

    Knee Ascender

Same. That whole deal put a sour taste in my mouth. If not for that, I prolly would have bought their felling belt rig.

    Undercutting hung up trees

couple options to get movement: 1. Roll the tree with a cant hook or a strap/pry pole 2. Bypass cut at he base and break it free with a pry pole or manipulate the break with a rope/comealong from a distance. 3. Salami cut as Rico suggested. Others might have pictures of this. There is nuance...

    200t leaking chain oil

Does it really seep though? I've never seen bar oil just drip from gravity off the bar and chain. The whole idea behind chainsaw specific bar oil is it has tackifiers to keep it stuck to the chain so it doesn't just weep out of the bar groove from gravity and actually sticks to it as it's slung...

    200t leaking chain oil

I follow the process from this video for bar oil leaks... Basically, clean the saw and break it down. Set in on cardboard and see where it gets oily. Last saw I had leaking badly was a faulty cap.

    Petzl ZigZags SOLD

What rope are you using? I don't actually have EN1891 ropes. I plan on using an 11.7 double braid...Samson Hyper Climb.

    Petzl ZigZags SOLD

That was mostly a joke. My plan is to use it in a kids climb rig as a more reliable and consistent friction device than a hitch cord.
