Referring again to the samson instructions, and splicing yale blue moon. Instructions say to go to a point T, which is 8 strands toward the tail from point R. At. That point start cutting every fifth pair of strands of the cover until you reach the tail. But if i do that i actually have 13 or 14...
Thanks for the responses. So now, continuing with the same climber and gear. If he is climbing drt, the load on the e2e friction hjitch would be 100 pounds, or 50 pounds on each leg of the e2e? (Assuming no friction at tip)?
Question about loading on a friction hitch. For discussion lets say a friction hitch is tied on a climbing line using an approved hitch such as vt and a hitch climber pully. Lets say climber is 200 pounds. Would the force applied to the e2e cord be 100 pounds on each leg of the e2e?
The email asked me to complete a survey about where i would be willing to attend a future event. I think england and some other locations were mentioned. I filled out the survey then deleted the link. Maybe someone else still has it. Im sure the rendezvous organizers would rwelcome feedback from...
Thanks for tips, all. I was thinking there might be some benefit to being able to establish an m rig routing of the line from the ground, but as tony points out, it just takes too long. All it takes is one tiny branch to get on the wrong side of the routing to mess it up. Not that many perfectly...
Glad to hear arbormaster as a viable bridge. Im a big fan of arbormaster half inch. It was my first climbing line and ive always like the feel and strength of it. Plus its near indestructible, imo.
I'm experimenting around with using the m rig setup with a hitchclimber pully. I would like to be able to route the climb line through the two chosen crotches from the ground, rather than while in the tree. I haven't been successful at it due to difficulty of isolating the two tips using one...
I got an email from someone named griet van der heide. It was talking about some sort of arborist related rendezvous, and provided a link to get more information. I didnt click the link, cuz im suspicious. Has anyone else received this? Is it legit?
I have an echo CS400 and I agree about the easy starting. Push the primer bulb a few times when cold, pull it twice on full choke to get a spark, then it starts first pull after letting choke in. After that it almost always starts first pull when warm. I know a lot of people don't like primer...
Is there a good place to learn the different types of certification and what's required for each? Seems like a lot of alphabet soup to me. Which certifications are worth getting?
:risas::sisi::sisi: i use ct foot ascender. On more than one occasion ive ended up with my ankle approaching my waistline as i try to get the necessary slack on the ascender to get the sharp teeth to release from the rope. Fun times for anyone watching me struggle!
Ive had my zz on my 16 strand arbormaster for several months. I just leave it on the rope between climbs. When i first got it i heated the non eye splice end of my rope and rolled a slight taper into it. This makes it easier to get on the zz, but it is still a little more difficult than putting...
