    Bucket truck

Still considering buying the bucket truck but wanted to hear a little more about the routine maintenance. Curious what type of extra costs there are. I heard the cable needs to be replaced every 6 years and is very expensive. Any of you bucket truck owners care to give me a heads up on the...

    First big bid

The suburb is Glenwood. It is a normal area for me but doing a muni job of this size would be new to me. I am in Homewood so it is right next door.

    First big bid

I am putting in my first really big bid next week. Village job removing 143 infected Ash trees. It will be a very interesting experience. If I get it I may be looking for someone to come and do some contract climbing/cutting for a couple of weeks. Shoot me a PM if you would like to keep...

    Vermeer 252 vs. 352

I have used the 252 in the past and currently own a 352. BIG difference in performance. The 352 is just more powerful and makes quicker work of the stumps and still fits 36" openings. But if you are just doing small to medium stumps the 252 might be the way to go and put the savings toward...

    morbark vs vermeer

As some of you know I have had some chipper issues this year and the time has come to buy a new machine, a little bigger, and with a dealer in my area. I am currently trying out a Morbark 12" diesel chipper and later this week I will be running a vermeer 12" diesel. Morbark has only the one...

    Brush Bandit help

I like the bandit but there are not any dealers even remotely close to me and I don't want the same headache I had last month. I am going to demo both a Morbark 12" and vermeer 12". They both have dealers close to me and I am ready for a new machine. Chris

    Brush Bandit help

Had chipper back for a week and everything running great. Yesterday started the chipper and after 10 minutes of feeding it shut down. Won't start again. It seems as though the fuel pump isn't kicking in when the key is switched to the run position. Now I don't know if the computer is still...

    Brush Bandit help

Got my chipper back today!!!! Can finally get back to the serious work. The main problem was a bad throttle body and bad computer. Those two items led to the blown head gasket and the overheating that shut down the machine. Everything fixed and/or replaced and chipper seems to run well...

    Brush Bandit help

Update......still no chipper. According to the GM folks who had to come out and take a look it appears there is a problem with the TPS (or something like that) throttle positioning sensor i think. Either way they can't get it above 400rpms and the there is a no continutity in the TPS. Will...

    Plague of Equipment Failures

That is always the way! It always seems to be 2, 3, 4, ......... things all at the same time. Not worth getting crazy about it because it happens to everyone. Just remember it could happen at an even worse time! Good luck and be careful Chris

    Bucket truck

Thanks for the feedback. I have a one ton dump that pulls the chipper now but my other truck is a 1500 silverado and it is not big enough for pulling the dump trailer. So my plan is to replace the 1500 with something bigger. Either I buy some sort of heavy duty truck with a utility box on the...

    Bucket truck

Need to purchase a truck this year and am exploring options. I would like to hear opinions about bucket trucks. I do mostly residental work and I know access will be a key topic. I am curious if those of you who have bought them and do mostly residental work have found you never get to use...
