I read this post yesterday and hadn't received any news of my score yet. After reading how everyone else found out online I logged on and checked the ISA website. To my dismay my name did not appear on the certified arborist verification search. I thought for sure that I had failed, however...
I have found if you turn the snap in the opposite direction it fixes itself. Usually I'm not far from my TIP before i realize it is happening. Then I just unsnap and re snap in the opposite direction. Has this worked for anyone else? Also i think larger diameter climbing lines are more...
I'm A Pittsburgh arb. Work for Arborel. Does this individual work with a group called the Urban Tree Forge? I have worked with these guys before. Anyway ill pm ya.
Buy a suunto clinometer. It isn't digital but it is fast and you won't spend much on it. The suunto is much better than a few of the other non digital models.
It doesn't seem to capture the entire picture like the gopro. I kinda like the wider lens on the gopro. I mounted the contour on top of my helmet, not bad but once mounted it cannot be moved up or down only side to side. You have to mount it on the side of the helmet to be able to move it up or...

Do you make your notch while Tied in high with the running bowline and then finish the cut once you move the line below the notch? Just thought it might be easier to access the other side of the tree to get a better angle to cut the notch while tied in high.
David if you just want to use the line for access I'm thinking you will want something with the least amount of stretch, since the rope will not be used in conjunction with a fall. Even though you are climbing on it using the secret weapon your ddrt system and rope should take most of the shock...

Just thinkin outside the Knot/box.
If you were to daisy chain a few feet of the static line at the anchor or before the anchor depending on your practice I am sure there could be some measurable impact dampening.
What do you think. I haven't tried on my srt but have done with my...

Be VERY careful about considering the use of a static line like HTP for anything except access.
Using static/low-stretch ropes for working in the tree is not a good decision. In the case of a fall having some shock dampening in your rope is desirable. Otherwise the impact goes to the...
