Try the XT.... pretty much the same as the VT but doesn't need to be set, at least for me. There is pics some where on TB. I've found it to be quite a bit more reliable and can even get it to self tail when I have enough rope under me.
I'll be writing mine sometime this year. How did you find the test? I wrote the exemption tests for the schooling a few years ago while I was at fleming. I think they were the one of the most poorly written tests I've ever had to write. The wording was horrible and hard to understand. Wondering...
I've been climbing on the new vortex for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. Been switching between Ddrt and SRT and found it nice to have a bit thicker rope to grab when on the wrench.
I recently switched to a longer lanyard, approx a 20 fter, as I wanted to try it out. I have to say that I like it a lot more than a shorter lanyard. I do a fair amount of crabs and apple prunes and its nice to be able to use my lanyard rather than hauling my climbing line around a little tree...
I use a ditty bag for my lanyard- around 20 ft. At first had problems with all the rope coming out until I tied a prussic onto the rope and attached it to a loop right above my ditty bag. If you need more rope pull some through the prussic. Works pretty good for me.
Ross me and the guys at work call them manitoulin maples lol reminds me of Lou hahaha. Around here they seem to be what we remove the most... and take off of peoples houses the most too. Took a 36"er off of a house the other day this week think it fell over in a 40 km/h wind lol, garbage trees...
The RW is awesome
I have a short tether... so when my VT is set the wrench is about 2-3 inches above the top of my hitch and I'm using beeline for my tether cord. I'm ascending with a pantin and handled ascender+footloop nice simple and quick. You get other the fact that it isn't midline...
Jamin,
I picked up a pair of those saw pants from treestuff about a month ago and I'll just say I've bought better pants. They feel really heavy compared to other saw pants I own, and the other pants I own have saw protection on the back of your calf , the euro style pants do not. Its been...
I've been playing bagpipes for about 10 years now.... don't play too much anymore unfortunately, friggin tree work doesn't leave me with much time/energy to play lol. I played in a pipe band for a while before I went to college, coolest thing I wish I had a video of was my roommates and I ( one...
That was quite the wind storm we had then (I'm in Peterborough). I was in the bucket doing an elm removal and it was getting really windy, I think my hard hat would have gone for a flight if my muffs weren't down lol. Anyways I was setting some rigging up and saw something move out the corner of...
