ya, hard to tell from the vid. the first top did have a live portion that I did want to bring it to that was about 5 more feet out. The boss on the other hand wanted to go a little more heavy. On his defence though, the live part was showing leaf scortch (sorry if not spelled right)...
Those tops didn't look too bad. Why didn't you try and reduce the dead and broken portions and try and save some of that big wood? The first two leads look like they had something decent to cut it back to but it is a little hard to tell if it would have been worth while. They looks like big cuts...

Ah Bix when I go to a job I know what I take, so when I am leaving the job I just check and make sure I have everything that I brought. Very simple and effective. But we are a small three man crew. Yeah I think a spliced rope retains most of it's breaking strength as opposed to losing...
Trust me I have some ugly looking splices. I can even get some pictures up of those. I have a junk bin of stuff to show as examples and things to help me remember where I came from. It has taken me a long time to actually trust my splices.
Also note I LOVE double braid splices. I just borrowed...
I might need to get some photos of some of the spider legs I made and a lanyard that went to the ITCC and pasted gear check. I love the fact I had an item of mine go to ITCC. It was a special day for me. Pete Fixler told me Norm Hall inspected it so I do feel good about that.

The ones on the left have since been covered in either black or red maxi jacket.
Also the ice split tails have the simple 3 turns then rotate 90 degrees and another 3 turns. I like...

First one is vortex hot climbing line with no lock stitching (there is some on it now).

I'm pretty sure that's a french prussik for the hitch and the stopper knot is a double overhand knot just not dressed right. If you where to take the turn and pull it up and...
Buy new. Used gear is a crap shoot. You never know what it's been though. Even with the guys on the buzz you still really never know. It's much better to just buy new and you never have to worry.
Maybe a harness and throwline stuff but life supporting gear should be new so you can track it's use.
