Homegrown CE lanyard

I used a stopper knot for four years and it worked well along with double fisherman's for the snap. I can't splice, but when I went to the States this summer I got all four of my lanyards spliced up nicely by my bud Eric, that is eight splices, snap end and stopper end. Just cleaned them up, they are all velocity with snaps like yours Scott. Enjoy your new lanyard with the Imori.

Swing, I agree, it just cleans everything up with the splices, no big knots...I would love to get this done soooon....anybody in nor cal near Sac. that splices?

I've got a handful of splices I could use too... anybody out there? I used to have the same snap, beeline 10mil, that thing would would slide through everthing. I lost 2 of them though... can you believe that BlackOak? there I go leaving gear behind again

Stop being so careless Bix.

Gear is too expensive to continuously replace. Try and implement a gear check ( I don't have much but this it what I do ). Hope you dudes get them splices done it adds strength and really tidies things up.

If you guys are splicing around those snaps it would be nice to add small thimble in the eye if you can. It would help to improve the bend radius.

So very true Adam and I met him here on the buzz. Lived in his home and did treework for a month. Met you when I was there, good fun.

I know swing, I know... it's pretty bad... I could give you a list of the stuff I've somehow lost, left behind, or is still up in the tree!

What's this "gear check" you like to do?

Oh... and as for the splice... isn't it somehow %90 stronger (thought I saw that in the Sherrill mag).

Ah Bix when I go to a job I know what I take, so when I am leaving the job I just check and make sure I have everything that I brought. Very simple and effective. But we are a small three man crew. Yeah I think a spliced rope retains most of it's breaking strength as opposed to losing 50% of it by using knots. If I am incorrect someone can chime in.

yup depending on the knot and how well the splice is done. those numbers are close enough.

How did your long lanyard assist that limb walk in a way that your climbing line couldn't? What was the situation that led you to the conclusion that it was the safer and more efficient option? As you said, I wasn't there to see for myself so I have to rely on words.

Update....this CE Landyard is working great, love the the 30ft. for big trees, makes it easy getting back to trunk, or dropping down to next branch....

Easy back to trunk on long limb walks, even on slippery mossy oak branches....unhook snap from side D ring or center D and off to next area.

Hey I'm new here to the BB and I was looking around found this thread. I have also crafted my own version of the CElanyard, I'll post a picture when I can but I'm using 12' sterling spliced with ISC trip-snap, pinto with 30" ocean e2e and a thimble, been using it for about 3 months and it's saved me multiple times
