Hi,
Have anybody had a chance to compere 16mmTenex Tec vs 16mmStable Braid rigging ropes, I like 16mm StableBraid but look's like Tenex Tec is much stronger when comes to SWL ..are there any other distingtiv differences ?
I've used tenex (single braid) only for my VTs..before..have no idea how...

Hi,
I have a question to gays making money on splicing. I've start spliceing ropes quite recently, but got invelved and even sold few of them. It looks like it's a market where you can make some extra money from time to time.
Can anyboty tell me what is a proper procedure to legalise the fact I...

I still say we need to bust some sh8t to truely find out whose way is better. Not even for gloating rights, more for induustry benefit.

I agree completely

Getting back to Marcin's original question...."Do we need an eye splice?"
No, we don't. We could use bigger rigging slings, tie the knots, then deal with the clumsy knots while up in the tree.
But why would you? It is simply easier to tie the cow/stilson hitch when you are...

Marcin- are you actually arguing that a bowline is stronger than a good splice?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nick - No, that's not what I am arguing about! I know splice is stronger! what I am on about is ...I'll give an example(it's from didjon): when you have a 3 meters steel chain which holds 2...
[ QUOTE ]
Marcin- it's simple math. I will say it clearly. The splice or bowline are links in the system. The splice is stronger than the bowline. A good splice is a lot stronger than any bowline. Why would you opt for a weaker link?

DIDJON DIDJON DIDJON help me please!! ...

find the tightest bend that takes the most direct dynamic load and has the least tensile strength and you have the weakest link.

That's what I am looking for !! Mr Didjohn! and I belive it is the bend in cow hitch, I belive it's weeker then bends in bowline!!
And I am...

Strength loss from a great splice approaches zero percent, but let's call it 10-15%, just to be safe. A cow/girth hitch loses considerably more than that- around 25%, depending on which source you're quoting.

So you agree that the weekest point in block+splice+cow/girth...
Hi Mark
Thanks for your reply. It helped me a lot with understending MAL system.

but strength loss from the splice is of minor concern.

Carpal Tunnel -- How do you know? I've read that it's very symilar to the strength loss on cow hitch.

Arbormaster has been working with Samson on identifying the breaking characteristics of various rigging scenarios. Is the 'block to splice to cow hitch' one of them? Do they have any info for us?
