Heavy leaner needs to come down sideways.

Looks like a Mulberry maybe? Your plan sounds good to me. If it is a Mulberry, the hinge wood is strong so that's working in your favor. You could also take as many limbs off the "wrong" side as possible, increasing your pull in the preferred direction.

Removed a dying Bur Oak on Friday. Looks like Oak Wilt introduced by line clearance "pruning". Judging by the black stains, I missed metal many times over felling and bucking this tree.

Skinny rope on base anchor leg?

Let me also add that this discussion has been had recently on the Buzz in response to another experienced climber nicking his base leg. Many climbers who are more experienced than I weighed in about the dangers of a base tie in a removal scenario and I poo-pooed that as simply blaming a...

Skinny rope on base anchor leg?

I can explain it to you. If your base anchored, often your base leg is on the back side of the tree and out of sight. That alone makes it more dangerous if you're using a saw or even hand snips, and often it can be redirected around a stub and you won't even know it unless you make a point to...

    New Ascender from Reg Coates

Looks like a great design. The flat tether and flat spine of the hook make it less prone to orienting the wrong way at the last second when you're trying to pull it out, and it seems like it will be harder to get it stuck around a limb that's just the wrong size, as I've done a couple times...

    New RopeRunner?!?

Go to your local hardware store and buy an appropriate size EZ Out screw extractor. You'll need to buy a handle to twist it, the right size drill bit and the extractor itself but they work great.

    New RopeRunner?!?

I still have the original RR so once the price comes down a bit on this one I will probably make a move. I waited long enough to miss the RR pro and leapfrog to the Vertec, although I mostly use the Wrench.

    New RopeRunner?!?

I think Kevin is the climber in the video who is less prominently featured, which is probably how he wanted it.

    Throw line/ throw weight thread

95' for $13.50 is hard to beat. I do a double-double brummel and then a long bury, like about 12". Feed the whole length through the second brummel because it's worth the time and hassle.

    Throw line/ throw weight thread

You can buy Dynaglide in shorter lengths and splice it end to end. I have 3 different cubes all with Dynaglide that has been spliced and I've never had a splice come out. I also use them to pull all the time and lots of double bagging so a 200' line is very useful for me at least. I buy from...

    Oak tree and dead branches.

New driveway? Recent grade work near the tree? Girdling root? Too much mulch at the base? All possibilities. As @Neill said, hire an arborist to help you understand what's going on.

    Jobber Software

I agree on all your points. The analytics are mostly useless to me and I liked the old home page better. I also have lots of little bugs that bother me like not being able to see what I'm typing in the client message section if using a laptop instead of phone. Overall it is still really...
