Thanks for taking the time to correct me, Oroboros.
I was bucking wood today, and I noticed that as the chain was starting to get dull, the oil was cutting out to the chain. Then smoke was coming from the kerf.
So did the lack of oil and excess friction over heat the teeth, and dull the teeth? Or was it the suddenly dull teeth that caused...
Okay, now I'm seeing how the Google Calender combined with Google Docs works. There's plenty of easy directions to follow. The calender is accessible and editable by multiple parties. Perfect.
Thanks, Buzz Crew.
My belt was fine. If I over tightened my new belt, mine would have shred too. I'm not sure how fast the Altec is going through belts, but the belt I blew out before buying this new one was 15 years old.
So far I've heard it could be a crank, rod, or woodruff key. It's in the shop now to be diagnosed on Monday.
What does it mean if the engine is using a lot of oil, but you don't see any smoke? Bad rings?
Does anyone use something online which is in the form of a calender, and multiple people from different computers or mobile devices and access this calender and all can edit it too?

It's a mid 90s Vermeer. The handle to engage the disc pushes a third wheel up into the belt from the engine pulley to the disc pulley. The third wheel tightens the belt's connection, and disc goes to spinning.
The engine's drive shaft is always spinning even during idle like the clutch shoes...
I posted this in the Rubber Hits the Road forum, but I thought this would receive more attention here:
We were running the chipper for 8 hours a day for a few days, and the operator showed me that one of the disc axle sheaves had completely unbolted. As the bolts vibrated loose the disc was...
The drive shaft spins all of the time until you engage the belt with the disc. Actually there is no clutch. The drive shaft is connected to the disc by a belt, and you drop the lever to engage the belt between the drive pulley and the disc pulley.
Because the drive shaft is no longer...
We were running the chipper for 8 hours a day for a few days, and the operator showed me that one of the disc axle sheaves had completely unbolted. As the bolts vibrated loose the disc was spinning at an angle eating the anvil with the knives.
I bolted the sheave and disc back up, and I...
Re: How can I run a business without \"Employees\"?
How much did you solo subcontractors charge for your work?
The deal I have right now is $25hr plus fuel and dump costs.
