Maybe I just need to get used to the HH2's locking carabiners the way it is. I'm sure I'll get used to it, I'm just already used to my other lockers. Not a big deal.
I got my rope walking setup a couple days ago. It's already WAY easier and faster than the RADS setup I was using. It consists of a Hitch Hiker 2, SAKA mini, CT foot ascender, and a simple chest harness made from some tubular webbing, but I have some concerns...
How high should my HH2 be...
You must be hardcore to climb in those temps! Either that, or I'm a big wuss. (probably the latter...) I put on a snowsuit to go out to get the mail.
Of course it was 31 below this morning in Wisconsin.
Turns out I was mistaken, he also has another ascender. I must have misunderstood when he said something like he was "using a basic Ascension" when he meant was "using a Basic and Ascension."
He sent me a link to this video which is very similar to his setup:

Is this a safe way to climb?
Last night I was at a party and was talking to an old friend who rock climbs. He said he's done a little recreational tree climbing too and was telling me about his setup.
He has a New Tribe saddle with a simple homemade lanyard setup. For climbing SRT, he uses a...
Thanks for the advice about the Turbo. I figured they were all about the same, but I definitely want one that locks so I think I'll skip that one. I know the CT does and is lighter than the CMI so that's my number one choice right now, CMI second.
Thanks all. Looks like I can't really go wrong with any of the choices I'm considering and I'll probably just stick with a hybrid device for now. Still haven't decided on the wrench or one of the HH's, but I'm leaning toward the HHX, along with a SAKA mini and a CMI foot ascender.
Although I...
I've been recreational tree climbing for just a short while now. I come from a rock climbing background, and have a good bit of gear for that. I started tree climbing with the gear I already had which was a RADS setup, and am now more than ready to step up into a SRS ropewalking setup, and am...
Still new to tree climbing so forgive me for asking, but why do you have a figure 8 on your harness? I've heard other tree climbers have them also...
Is it just a descender choice for people who don't use a multiscender in their climbing system?
Question #2.
Does the term "multiscender" mean...
Is there a small version and large version of the Pantin? I thought there was only one... I need a foot ascender and would take it if it's the normal one. Got a pic?
