Storm work $23k tree, 42" white oak uprooted through a house. Standard tree work $13k for a 5' diameter 110' lightning struck cottonwood with a 90t crane from the drive way and a 40t kboom for a tie in
Built my terminal rigging point over the sidewalk and ran the main rigging line through the ring on ~80' of three strand.
This allowed the grcs to lift to a closer point over the garage then lowering the 3 strand with the portawrap allows a controlled drift out to the terminal rigging point.
Rigging out an EAB infected green ash. Used a ring spliced into some 3 strand as a drifting redirect to move pieces laterally out to the sidewalk since the yard was very congested.
I get brushed with some tips at 3:55 or so which was my fault for setting the redirect a little short. It was...
I have tussled with a bakers dozen or so raccoons in the last 8 years... scariest one was rigging of the end of a dead elm limb, watch it run to the ground and look back to a big angry raccoon 10" from my face climbing out of where I was tied into with my lanyard.
Also had a farmer shoot a...
I'm in wisconsin so we've been dealing with EAB kill for a long time. I was at a company that did a huge amount of them, then moved to contract climbing a lot of the worst of them, and now owning my company there's some we do and some we don't. Always a thorough inspection. Always spurring up...
Gotta go cdl if you can. You can pick up a 33k truck for far less than a 25999 truck since lots of people want to stay under cdl. Tree parts get heavy quick.
I went from contract climbing to running a proper tree service in April. My business partner and I made the decision to buy a grapple truck first rather than a chipper and chip truck and I'm so happy we made that decision. We would have struggled to do a lot of the work we've done simply because...
Never had heated gloves but I like the memphis ninja ice for winter. Two layers of gloves and some cheap hand warmers makes a huge difference. Get good thin layers and keep moving while you're climbing. Don't wait in one spot for a rigging line to get untied, etc. You'll be alright just takes...
The way I view our industry is it's our job to help trees and humans occupy the same spaces. Trees certainly don't need our help, but deadwood falling out on people and limbs contacting structures is going to lead to the trees getting pushed out. People think of people first and that's alright...
Maiden flight on this set up. Got some more dialing to do and the leg pads are still stiff as a board but I like this way more than the original MCRS. That was the first saddle I ever bought myself and didn't know what I needed out of it so the customization of it wasn't utilized. Starting from...
Thanks Rico! We had a bunch of go pro footage but the drone footage was higher quality and just looked so much better. It was a fun job working with some of my most trusted friends so we had some fun with it!
