Anyone climb on 13 mm htp or km3 max?

Check out Maple Leaf Ropea in Canada. It shows that they have all diameters and colours in stock. I would call and speak with Jason. He has been a pleasure to work with and it is all in Canadian dollars so all of you Americans can take advantage of the 35% discount...

    Convince me to go SRT/SRWP

I have been in my Sequoia now for 5 or 6 months and must admit that it has been pretty damn good. The open rings are pretty cool and in fact I just added a third open ring onto the ventral attachment point. I just did it on Monday so the verdict is still out, but the plan is to use it for my...

1 bridge for each "world" = best of both IMO

    Convince me to go SRT/SRWP

I agree strongly with many of the comments that have been made. The zero friction with endless re-directs is superb. 1:1 for ascent is twice as fast and when paired with frog or rope walker system is far more energy efficient and timely. One that I dont believe that was mentioned was the...

Tree failure, while I was climbing it.

This is a great thread and one that has me reflecting on some of the sketchier things I have done in the past and how I could have approached it to make it safer from every aspect. I applaud your honesty and appreciate you sharing your experience. It is never easy to be the one in the hot...

    Tenex splice

The Canadian in me finds it much easier to do the math in millimetres. 10 mm = 1 cm. 13 mm rope (1/2") x 21 = 273 or 27.3 cm. 2.54 cm in an inch...27.3/2.54 = 10 3/4" fid length

    Tenex splice

Depends on the type of splice you intend on doing. Are you doing a locked brummel or just a straight bury? There has been much debate on the length of bury for a locked brummel, however, I believe the consensus may have been a long fid to full fid. Some people have also suggested a short fid was...

    DMM throw hook.

I have not used that attachment for tree work before, but for rescue work we only have ventral, sternal and dorsal. Great idea with the swivel biner. Thanks for the tip. Woo hoo, more shiny toys to buy

    DMM throw hook.

Got a chance to test out my Captains Hook today. Very cool tool, but will most definitely need some practice. I run a DMM small axis swivel on my rope bridge, but found my bridge to be too long for my rads system on my hook to be as efficient and effective as possible. I am using a gri gri with...

It is in fact reepschnur. Found it at Maple Leaf Rope. If you are interested I would suggest calling Jason and speaking with him directly. He has it in 600' spools but will sell it to you by the foot at a very reasonable price...

    Show off them splices

Just finished up my Captains hook. Pretty happy with the end result...bit of a PITA to extract the core, but not the worst. Took my time and referenced Samson insteuctions throughout and was about 45 mins. Final bury was pretty smooth. Thanks again for the core reduction tip @ARLO

What would you like to see introduced or improved in arborist equipment?

I have the small red shembiner and if you want to make 1 hand retrieval easier you can file or cut the small keeper tab down. Makes racking and retrieval much easier....it is amazing what a 1/4” piece of aluminum can do to ruin your day

    Reep Schnur splicing method?

Hey guys, Just got off the phone with Jason from Maple Leaf Ropes. Absolutely amazing customer service and great prices. the website only offers 600' reels of Reep Schnur but if you speak with him he will cut it to any length. The best part was the price...under 80 cents a foot for 3/8ths...

    Saddle recommendations

When it is for life support I am cautiously skeptical of chinese products on ebay. If a reputable company like Kong can put purse rings for sale as life support I shudder to think what someone making less then $1 an hour in a chinese sweat factory can do. Sometimes peace of mind is worth the...

Regardless of industry progression and innovation are the building blocks of success. I believe that this is the next step in the progression of the knee ascender. The ability to leave the ascender on during work may change your approach and improve overall efficiency. Its a great time to be a...
