Right, most everyone thinks they are junk. Forever I stressed about what to do with them. Well I got a buddy with a knuckle boom and an outdoor wood boiler who loves em. The slab quality ones are money!
Check out what they get for them, these are not their nice once either, those were sold...
That's the trick! If I can get one end of a log off the ground by going forward and lifting, it's on!
I'll even put a step/roller log behind the trailer and push the log in sometimes!
How about three times?
I'm never tied in three times. Lol. I climbed 75' to this point with the two flip lines, set my speed/zip line tip. On my way up I cut and tossed/bombed the small stuff, leaving the big limbs over the roof to be rigged. Set my srt tip right there, lowered myself to the...
Way more money in slabs then fire wood!
This company aslways seems to have poor inventory, due to their massive demand. A lot of stuff never makes it to the inventory due to the standing orders wood workers have with them. Some high end wood workers turned me on to the market. The builder...
I know there is no computer. It was a polite was to see if he knew what he was talking about...with out it looking like I was calling b.s. on him.
What would cause what he described to happen? Out of level electric /mechanical switch?
Same thing happened to me...was my main fuse as I mentioned earlier.
Die electric grease plugs and fuses, fluid film exposed terminals/contacts.
Start simple first!
Poppy Cock!
Damn I cant even carry one a few feet, let alone to a job next door, let alone carry TWO grapples.
Is any one listening to the real story here?lol
I cant help but feel you are a little sad no one nominated you for "hero" status, clearly you are a legend!
Just looked at a video with the tracked lift. The telescopic portion has the really long hydraulic cylinder underside and is attached in three places, definitely looked a bit curved in the video at full. Looked like it actually would have to flex if the upper boom portion did at all.
I did...
Interesting...I thought Tracked Lift and Omme were same company?
Do you think it could have been an optical illusion on the curved hydraulic cylinder? That seems like a hard thing to grasp, when they are only attached at the ends, never heard of such a thing. What do you think could cause...
I'm sorry you are so embarrassed by that guy, kinda thought it was you for a while. Is it embarrassing that he makes it look so easy, even a fat gut in shorts can do it...while the throttle is at idle?lol
Not until he shows us the video of him choking out a gigantic pile randomly stacked limbs, dragging them from a back yard and effortlessly stuffing them into the chipper. I've been waiting months...
Yea, told somebody recently I'd pay someone $50/hr if they could do what I do. They said, " they would have their own business and be a legit competitor"
That union guy thought the grass was greener in residential tree work, till I had him dropping 16' logs from 100' with a 70cc saw. O god...
why do you think that is? Too many studs?
Where? Are there a bunch of mature companies (cranes)?
No one around here has a crane. Only one other full time (for 6-8 months) tree service that comes close to our volume and 6 part time guys with full time jobs.
Maybe if I offered 401 and beni's...
A ground guy= $12-$18+/hr
Solid climber=$18-$35/hr
"Unicorn", can do it all, run a crew, deal with customers, climb like a boss (prune with out spikes/ rig big and safe) operator of anything with controls, cdl, good attitude, mechanic/trouble shooter...I'd start you at $25/he...prove yourself...
I have probably purchased 15-20 high end jackets $350-$650 (msrp) in the last 20 years.
I've been a ski patroller for over 10 years now, working in temps as low as -28F (before the 45mph wind chill added to my skiing speeds that frequently exceed 50mph )
honestly one of the best hoods ever...
