Bandit 254 Fuel issues

SHE'S RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!! It was a corroded fuse. It was making just enough connection to run the pump a little. Stuck test light on fuse one side wasnt getting power. New fuse she started right up. I learned a lot (especially to use test light not just check fuse), thanks for everyone's help and suggestion. Much appreciated!

Glad to hear!! Diesels of today's day in age require huge amounts of pressure to run. Hence why I kept saying you need to check pressure out of lift pump. I.e. A Cummins takes 14,000psi to run if one injector is bad it will not start due to all the fuel leaking past that injector. That is common rail. On your a rotary pump it does not keep back pressure on the pressure plates to give pressure to other injectors or at least enough pressure to atomizer fuel

Thanks again Magnum. I appreciate the tips and advice. I am learning a lot as I go with new(er) equipment, I like to work on it myself. All the wires are a little overwhelming (I am used to 53 series Detroit Diesels from the early 80's). Internet is a great resource for the newer stuff.

Isn't it great when a 20 cent fuse solves all your problems? I tend to jump to conclusions with equipment, and it usually is the simple stuff. Good reminder. Glad it's running.

My name is Jared, my father is a diesel mechanic and I spent most of my child hood years working for him. Glad I could put it to use.

Same thing happened to me...was my main fuse as I mentioned earlier.
Die electric grease plugs and fuses, fluid film exposed terminals/contacts.
Start simple first!

Frashdog - That was one of my first checks. the mistake I made was just checking the fuse itself was not blown I never checked with test light. Won't make that mistake again.

Few things...first i cant believe it started that cold without being plugged in! Ours has always cranked like it had a dead battery after about 20 degrees....second is the disc safety plug when malfunctioning will cut all power to everything...third is the 3 blue boxes...they are relays that all need to work for it to run...ignition, fuel pump, and injection pump. I believe from memory that they are in that order from right to left but its been a while. Good luck with that motor/power great lakes setup as ours was a bit of a pita.

Craneguy - I ended up calling bandit directly for a run down of fuses and relays. He's the one that had me test everything with test light. Didnt even think to do it when I pulled fuses. I have heard these perkins are a little finicky. Just something else to learn to work on! Also, yesterday it was 9 degrees F. Started right up not plugged in. Pleasantly surprised with the cold starts.
