I'll post into this thread later but just heard of one more option I didn't even know was a possibility - Cory shared 3rd feed wheel motor.
If you have a chipper built this info can make your chipper so much more useful.
There are all kinds of things you can have added to a Bandit in build. Most are not listed as options that I ever saw. Research, ask around, and ask more. Some things pay for themselves in time savings within a modest number of jobs where that option came to use.
Friend near me had a construction tool battery burn in and total a truck. Not sure of brand, aftermarket or stock, or abuse it was put through - so it can happen (perhaps).
Story facts are a little to fluid from him for me to try asking about it a third time or more.
Great thread.
I have been thinking of ammo boxes drilled to release overpressure (or cut off wheel slit to keep pressure release under lid protection) and insulation to keep heat spread down.
Yes, I only remove knives to swap out with fresh edge that is new or has been ground sharp by a oil grind sharpening machine.
What I've seen in the past and that picture in post #16 would show if pictured well is that a normal carbide "knife" dressing tool will scrape steel off the cutting...
Yeah Carl we all run different businesses and different equipment needs. If I had a 15 or 18 inch chipper like I would also like I'm sure I would be handling knife needs differently for that unit.
Yes, bad photo really Sean.
It affects chipping in a meaningful way in pretty short order - maybe in a few dressings. A picture I previously posted in this thread post #16 show it somewhat. When having them ground by my Bandit dealer I asked them to make sure they ground past the backbevel - no such luck. I'm looking...
I've cleaned up rotted logs using a stump grinder. Forestry Mulcher may be a consideration under some circumstances. I love the look of a place all cleaned up.
Akimbo2 has been working well at bypassing pitch spots on my rope. That's so refreshing since Akimbo1 was pretty much full stop.
My adjustment latch wings are a little loose and can be found out of lock up position if I don't check them frequently. Any tips on tightening them up a little and...
Man...I've been getting great results with this new Garden Sharp tool previously mentioned. When the chippers pulling and chipping performance is dropping off a bit I dress the knives 25 strokes and it is only taking material off the face of the knife. Close it up and it's chipping great...
That pruner is amazing. I've used it on a job and made multiple dozens of cuts and been surprised the battery didn't even show dropping one bar. Very capable tool.
It feels a tad heavy in use...and I've used power polesaws almost daily for 10 or 20 years.
Great idea cangrejo. How do you find the balance and manipulation of the C Hook to be in that configuration for throwing? And how throwable is it with heavier line - like Tacyon?
One of the things I loved about the Captain Hook from the start was how throwable it is with 10mm and how easily...
Just recieved my Akimbo II yesterday - a work of art and thing of beauty.
I was disappointed ahead of time hearing it was larger than the original but, in hand and without my original in the house to compare it to, I didn't notice a difference in size.
Sadly I'm working mostly the tops of big...
