The more I learn about the concept of aerial friction devices the more I want to invest in one, or a few. I am just curious about the deal with the THT, I know the Xman has been working on putting it into production but I can't find out anything about the progress. Is the safebloc just a carbon...
If you had a billion dollars and you would still like to do tree work that shows that you're doing something you love. I'm the same way; someone asked me that question and it was: new bucket truck, new chipper, log truck, toys, toys, toys. I think that's a tell to whether you're in the right...
There is a guy in our area that pumps septics who uses a robot to find the proximity of the septic tank as well as the infiltrators. He can also figure out approximate depth which is super important.
Getting cranes into the tight areas needed to perform tree removals often comes down to a foot or two for outrigger placement. I would never trust a map the homeowner gives me, or especially one found online. That is leaving to much confidence in the engineer/excavation co. that put the septic...
Thank You Steve, great idea by the way. Yeah it was a very difficult thing to deal with when my dad died, but he was ready to leave this place. He was at peace with leaving and that has been an exceptional comfort to me in my grief, and has in turn given me peace with it; but that's another long...
Lol, too true. I haven't even bought one of the fancy 5:1 fiddleblock kits yet. Just my homemade 3:1 setup clipped to the top of the portawrap. 2 micropulleys, two carabiners, a friction cord, and a small length of 1/2" red is dead rope (retired climbing line) comes in at just under 60 bucks. I...
Sounds like a strongly tensioned guy line, as well as a reliably strong pull line would have been sufficient for a pine that size (obviously depends on the amount of lean, size of the drop zone, proximity to obstacles etc). But it is always better to err on the side of caution in any dicey...
Exactly what my instincts told me. Use the strength of each stem instead of putting pressure on the area with the included bark. But thats just how MY mind works and could quite possible be wrong...
What is the composition of the lowerable system you generally use? I'm sure there are different ones based on what you are doing...crane work, ddrt, srt.?
I do appreciate the response Royce, don't think that I don't. I'm sure one day will come and the seeds that you, as well as others have planted, will take root. I have consistently endeavored to improve efficiency, as well as safety since my fiance and I started our own company. When it was my...
Well Scott, I think you are assuming an awful lot considering you know virtually nothing about this job other than what you saw in the video. Any tree guy worth their salt should know that there are always more elements than the ones you can see from your comfortable computer chair.
The reason...
Holy shit Ben, when do you sleep? lol, Either you got the film editing thing down to a brilliant science or you're an insomniac MFer :) Either way keep the vids coming.
You're probably right about the friction saver, it SHOULD be treated with respect. Although I highly doubt I could drop it enough times to decrease the MBS to a dangerous level (those buckingham steel ring friction savers are tough as nails), but I suppose it's the overall attitude of respect...
