Gordon, I ran it between the top arm and the back bone. It worked OK but I need to fiddle with it some more. Lot of drag on the ascent and I need to figure out where.
I added the swivel the night I came and got the bone from you. It's an absolute must IMO.
Smoothing up now. Used it to ascend 75ft then switched to the wrench just to work, and then down to 45-50ft for the final cut, switch back for descent and let it rip just to put some wear on it.
Second tree took the rest of the afternoon. Used it the whole time, but in all fairness, it was a...
I think I read through that but wasn't sure if it was just the differences in old rope vs new. I think I need a new orange one too lol then I'll have all three.
Well today I used the adjustable bone on a decent sized tree. Started out with 6mo old blue Cougar and it hated it. I know my release technique is terrible still but it was jumpy. To the point where I used two hands to control the release better, but wasn't conducive to limb walking at all. It...
Played around a little today, with the bollard all the way out, still seems to be a little stiff running on broken in Cougar. Left my foot ascender at work apparently, so I was only going up 6-8ft and coming down. Will play with it more tomorrow.
Nothing that wasn't already mentioned here in this thread as far as tending, what point to replace the bollard, which way to turn the screw and what what does to the bollard. It's all stuff I've read, but for me personally, i retain the information better if shown vs reading. I think I'm up to...
Nothing to contribute yet. Just want to say that I had the pleasure of meeting Gordon and his beautiful family at his house this afternoon. The man is a nice soft spoken, humble individual (if that wasn't already evident), whom I would gladly do business with again.
I was on the fence between...
I had (have in my truck) one. I found a way, twice, for the saw to come off. I'm destructive. I can test the shit out of something. Break an anvil with a rubber mallet. :hueco:
48/50 times I always make sure the gate is closed and locked for any reasonable movement while aloft. That time I...
Michoacán. 6 months on that hitch and it never bound up with me until the sudden halt and the glazing from that. Roughed the hitch cord up on some rough bark on the root flare when I was done, and all is well again lol
I use a 9.3 28" Epicord e2e and the only glazing I have in 6mo use was last week, I went for a big jump and my saw came out of the Transporter (lanyard got caught in the gate and it didn't close) and got caught in the crotch, so I got about 5-6ft, how ever long a lanyard is out stretched, -and...
It nearly as experienced as a lot of you, but, I've seen straight trees with seemingly stronger hinges than you'd thing they'd need or have for falling purposes, go over slow, then stall out for lack of a better term, and the weight of the tree pushing back down into the hinge (say tree has went...
Makes absolutely perfect sense and unless and open face notch is needed, I do this as standard practice with anything larger than about 8", and certainly when sending a top out.
Yes sir.
I imagine it to be like a Ford vs Chevy thing. You love what you buy that serves the purpose even if there isn't a huge real world difference.
Cougar I bought for myself. The others were either company supplied or using someone else's to try out or because it was convenient at the...
