How to control tree root depth

Most tree roots go horizontally anyway, not vertically.... but red maples seem to be shallow rooted, more than most.

Finishing a back cut with a hand saw?

Only time I do it is on a spindly skinny top on a removal, with a less than stellar rope man. I can make the cut hinge at the precise speed I want, and still have time to store the saw and brace myself for whatever goontard is on the rope.

    Compact Bulldog Bone

I was distraught when I saw it too Steve, but realized I primarily SRT, and as much as I love Cougar, KMIII Max is now my favorite, and is available at all kinds of retailers. If I need a non KM/Semistatic rope, I'll likely go to a 50-60ft piece of Vortex for something easy on the hands. I dont...

    Compact Bulldog Bone

The Yale 11.7s. I have Cougar blue and Puke but I have no issues with the 11.7s and I believe our resident Yale expert @Worthaug said the Cougar lines were modeled after the 11.7s.

    Saddle Gear

Depends on the climb. Over large prunes I may bring stuff for a redirect. If I'm over a house or something I may bring a longer loop runner that I don't use for life support, as a handle to hold on to a branch I may not be able to hold on to in an odd position. May bring stuff for a midline...

    Crabapple pruning question

Remove part of them. The more light exposed the more water sprouts will come out. Remove every "3rd" sprout as a rule of thumb, but try to leave ones that appear to be developing into more branch like structure, and not just a long, straight shoot. Much easier to demonstrate than tell. Sprout...

The New Notch Equipment Brand - For arborists by arborists

My metolius is just getting broke in good. It's fun to watch someone pick it up. Too much shit in it I guess. I'll definitely buy more of them. One thing I won't waiver on. It'll be metolius bags from here on. I've got a cheap TS bag I won at a comp that fell apart Metolius has you covered...

Gall bladder surgery. How quick to come back?

My doctor cleared me for whatever as soon as I felt ready. I specifically asked about sex, as it was about this time of year, 3 years ago, and I had big plans. Success on all accounts. Just be prepared to be irregular. About once or twice a week outside of the "norm", I can poop through a key...

    New Rock Exotica Nano Swivel

Swivel is brand new, never used. I don't have the paper work but could maybe scrounge it up at the shop. If you need the story, I bought a compact BDB, I had a swivel on it. Coworker also wanted a CBDB, and bought this particular swivel to go on it. I sold the bone to him. I already had a nano...
