    Minnesota TCC

Word on the street is Central Park is full of squat jungle gym oaks. I also heard the footlock is going to be a little bouncy. Taylor, I still owe you some beers. Come find me after the comp and have a few with me.

    hitch climbing

Matt, I suggest reading a book called the Tree climbers companion. That book will teach you alot. Also, try a distel before the vt. The vt can be a very picky hitch. Remember, low and slow. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

    Aerial Rescue

I carry a knife with me everyday. It is the last thing I would grab in an A.R. but if it came down to it I know it's always there.

    Accessing a tree

I agree with Hamel. If you start footlocking beware of the 30' burnout. It happens and it sucks!

    Practice what you preach

Good point. Just think of all the rules we break daily. Standing in front of the feed tray is one, just like one handing a chainsaw. All things we should not do, but it happens. Great post you should give the new guy a raise!!!

Another close call fall...my flight to the ground.

Re: Another close call fall...my flight to the gro Glad to hear all is well. One nice thing about SRT is the fact that your line does not need to be around a single crotch. Alot of times my SRT line runs through multi. crotches and is tied off at the base of the tree. Like the say, Safety in...

    2008 Fatalities

It is a shame. Hearing things like this is good for people in this line of work. Stories of how the deaths happened would be great so we can all learn from them!

    Friction hitch poll

Never met anyone who still climbs on a tautline, a blakes maybe and even then the only reason for a blakes is either a new climber or while using two tie in points.

Anything wrong with owning more than one rope??

Re: Anything wrong with owning more than one rope? Too many to count. KMIII, velocity, fly etc. They all have their purpose. You can never have too many ropes, just make sure you retire them when needed.

    Question on ascenders

There is a company I have recently dicovered called Climbing Technologies. I was told that they make gear for Petzl. just about the same thing and cheaper in price. I like the ascenders, a little lighter and the handle feels better. Call and talk to Rob at Fresco Arborist Supply (now owned...

    Climbing Pants

I have been wearing sip comfort range chainsaw pants (the red ones) just about everyday for almost a year now and I love them. If they are dirty a pair of tech pants will do just fine. Give me a pair of tech pants for anything from tree work to sitting around the house or throwing disc!

    Who makes their own safeties?

I am with Nick on this one. Climbing line, dynamic or static, prusik cord(tied in a vt), pulley, snaps or biners and there it is. I also put a piece of gardian tubing on my lanyard tokeep the grit out esp. on sappy pines.
