    Log rolling advise

I haven't and cant see the need for it. Usually try and drop the tree onto branches so it's off the ground for cutting.

    Log rolling advise

The 42" cant will be good for rolling logs but you can't beat that 60 incher for rolling hangers out of the tops of other trees. I've used them and have one on the way.

A new way to catch and lower awkward biscuits?

Re: A new way to catch and lower awkward biscuits It would be easier to drill a smaller round hole to match the rigging rope and use a stopper knot.

    Tree Felling Accident

...and where decay is present, a holding line if possible. I prefer the GRCS to pulling trees over with a vehicle, much more control. The open face with an advancing back cut would have been a better choice in that situation over the bore cut. The tension can be better controlled with the GRCS...

    Raccoons?

Raccoons usually nest in things as opposed on them, that may be a bird or squirrels nest. You can most likely get a snare pole from the humane society, snare them and lower them to the ground in the snare or you can tell the home owner to get a live trap and catch them. The young, if any, will...

I taped a magnet to the back of the case and it works fine, just don't climb with your credit cards or the magnet will erase the strip on the card.

I haven't looked at it before Jerry but it's advertised as a rope for mechanical ascenders. I'll have to try it. Thanks again!

    Saving my elm

I have a DED elm to remove this next weekend. The injections failed and the arborist ringed the tree with a chainsaw to keep the beetles from migrating down the trunk, I've not seen this before, is this recommended?

    Winch size? What to buy?

The EDR260 Echo. I bought it primarily for GRCS elevator work when accessing tall trees without hooks.

    Winch size? What to buy?

I finally got around to buying a gas drill for the GRCS but haven't used it to operate the winch yet. I find there's more control in using the GRCS over the portable gas winch but a guy should have both anyway. What size rope is your crew using on that winch?

    Red Pine problem

I haven't been up the tree yet, someone mentioned squirrel damage but it seems extensive for that. I don't think it's porcupines. The needles look healthy.
