Attached is one I've been using and made from Tenex Tec.
The top splice is a locking Brummel, with approx 1 1/2 fid length bury. The bottom is a Red Book Brummel, with the bury long enough to do the crossover (more than 2 fids).
Although you can't see the stitching, it's there. Next post.

Every yarn, of every type of rope construction is interwoven, under the same spring tension, in a very deliberate manner. The pattern and tension would have to match the rest of the construction. You would wind up with an inconsistant diameter.

If you're using the rope for ascending only, why not join them with 2 eye splices? Put a teardrop thimble in each eye to help reduce rope on rope wear.
OR
Put an eye splice, with thimble, in each rope and couple them together with a quick link?
You can put whatever you want in an animated video. Not even close to the real thing, though. No pendulum swinging in the animation. Two dimensional.
How about tying them off at the point right below the rigging anchor? Highly reducing the "swing".

My only addition would be to capture the "fall" of the rope on the marlin spike hitch. I've seen krabs work their way through the hitch. Capturing the fall will help prevent that from happening.

Get your advice/training from a reliable source. Not everyone on the "Buzz" is reliable, although they talk a good game.

Rope construction, diameter and fiber all come into play, along with the amount of rope 'in the system'.
During demonstrations, Todd Kramer and I have gotten readings up to 7X dropping a 15 pound log 1 foot on 1/2" stable braid with about 15 feet of rope 'in the system, measuring with a Dillon...

I hated it when I had to reset the rigging line between cuts. Occasionally had to have a "hold" line to keep the limb or spar from moving between re-sets.
