    rescue practice question

[ QUOTE ] Which gives you 8.3' of lift and lower? [/ QUOTE ] It's used as a "pick-off" system only. Pick off of one system and transfer to another. It's for life support only. I have another 5 to 1 set up for rigging with 2.5 inch double pulleys.

    crane vs. concrete driveway.

[ QUOTE ] Norm- what model terex is that? Looks like a t340xl. [/ QUOTE ] I don't know the exact model. It's a Terex 40 ton long boom, 40XL we would call them (105' of main stick). It's one of my favorite cranes to work with.

    crane vs. concrete driveway.

We used a 54,000 crane on concrete driveways on a regular basis. Put down 3/4" plywood or alturnamats. Use 4" X 4" X 4' or 6" X 6" X 4' lumber for the outriggers on top of two 3/4" sheets of plywood. Attachment has a 54,000 lb crane on a concrete drive. Picked off the rear and lowered on the...

Our deepest sympathy. Only knew him through TreeBuzz and posts. Sounded like a genuine Arborist who had passion for his work. Very Sad.

Setting retaining lines on leaning trees

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Watched Murphs video and this one came up on the side bar, thought it related well and has some good visuals as to what this discussion seems to focus on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe8_L-0_Fso [/ QUOTE ] He does a nice job of explaining the theory of the adjusted gun...

Cover taper for velocity and vortex?

    It depends on the cover strand count. 16 strand, every 5th 20 strand, 4th, then 5th, repeat sequence (4,5,4,5,4,5) 24 strand, 4th, 4th, 5th, repeat sequence (4,4,5,4,4,5)

help me pick out a bar

    I have a 28" bar on a Stihl 044 and I use .050 gauge chain. I wouldn't recommend anything longer than 28" on a 365. I would highly recommend 'skip chain' though.

    Splicing with X-Rigging Rings

Re: Re [ QUOTE ] Here are some more of my XRR projects, most of which have been posted before. Do you think it's a good idea to cram the rope in the smaller ring?

    rescue practice question

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This is what I use as a 'pick off' rig. It's set-up and ready to be installed on a single or doubled rope, in the "rescue bag". I've picked off a 220 lb climber, with gear, by pulling with both hands. If a rescuer is not capable by using both hands, the rope is long enough to...

    Bend Radius

Attached is a chart I've been using for training purposes for years. It's from one of the big 3 USA rope manufacturers. Cycles-to-failure will eventually come into play on repeated use small radius bends.

    whoopie/loopie

I've had 1 1/4 fid buries slide while holding a load. I do 2 full fid buries on loopies. Haven't made a whoopie for over 15 years. I think they are useless.
