    I will deflect jobs to small one person operations too... I dunno. The crew is set up for full day jobs and so that’s where we make the most profit. $1000 is about the smallest job we see unless it’s an add-on for a neighbor.

    I love it. Lol Set-up fee is a nice one, keeps the nonsense away and is an honest reflection of the time it takes to get to the job site, unload, load, and get back to the shop.

    At the conference in Memphis Kim Coder got me energized about assisted climate migration. They’ve got baby live oaks growing in Philadelphia! I’d love to grab live oak acorns from the northern most part of their range (piedmont?) and start some here. Long leaf pines seem to be a good bet too...

    Same. Overall economy is broken in our area, esp post Helene, and everyone and their cousin started a tree company after the storm. Calls are more essential hazard mitigation for middle class folks rather than maintenance / restoration prunes for the wealthy.

    How’s this. When the former biggest employer in Haywood county NC, the Canton paper mill opens up (shouldn’t be hard, only closed a couple years ago), I’ll buy you tariffarians a $50 carabiner. It isn’t for lack of trees to harvest on the ground!

    You gotta talk up the blue ridge mountains! How fun and beautiful it is to live here. The biodiversity! The magnificent landscape (even in its Helene recovery!) Stuff like that made an impression on me on a post 9 years ago and it’s partly why I decided to move to Asheville ;)
