OK, so tell me which one of those folks you mention denies that Biden is president (so, OK, I did not watch the video suggested above). More to the point, and while I try not to point personal fingers unless it's warranted, it is you who states that you consider both parties equally complicit...
Obviously. Are you implying that I was not writing in that way? I generally use the pronoun "we" instead of "you" when speaking about human behavior--good or bad. I think that's a pretty good start.
That's the problem: In this case--despite how I feel about most politicians and politics and the fixed game--I saw distinct differences between the two parties this time around. It's those who could no longer see those differences whom I fear the most.
Can someone really be convinced that trump...
You're absolutely right! And that is why we vote against election-denying republican governors and secretaries of state. Not voting AGAINST those people is a dereliction of our patriotic duty.
We can't have it both ways: We can't say that we need to do something about political corruption and...
Most people have to be OK with that because they are too busy trying to survive, and to feed their kids.
When I tried picketing in my town against trump and the republicans' policies, two distinct sets of citizens drove by. The ones who waved and said "Right On!" (mostly women and the elderly)...
I think you express yourself and write more clearly than most people. Please don't give it a second thought.
We had tiny baby horseflies everywhere yesterday (75 degrees F) after the next-door farmer covered his fields with manure. Every bite turned into an itchy allergic welt, until I finally...
OK, he's just a guy in France (who may or may not be French). Let's not turn this into a xenophobic rant about the French. The world doesn't need any more of that bullshit; we have enough enemies already (including ourselves and our fellow Nazi-Americans). I have too much respect for you all...
Wow, thanks for hitting all the nails on the head! I was just about to raise the topic of "self-talk," a practice that can easily bring us, or steal from us, contentment and self-respect. Constantly try to catch yourself in real time: Are you grumbling about the asshole next door, flailing...
Yeah, but is it really something to laugh about! My close friend died after falling off of a roof last year, and his injuries were horrific. For the record, he was not tied in properly. Hook yourself up with the safest equipment available!
237 Posts: That's how long folks here have stuck by you. I cannot count the number of times we have asked you to share details about what (precise) "influences" you are under and what might be causing you to persist with that when you've repeatedly proven that it does not work for you (or...
I learned a long time ago that when someone compliments you, or states that they are concerned about you, or that they love you, simply accept that they mean what they say and be thankful. Do not allow your brain to dismiss their words and motives by telling yourself that you are undeserving of...
I am so tired of living in a country where 50% of the population considers voting for ignorant, demented assholes like Walker, Oz, Mastriano, and the like. It's infuriating having to accept that half of the people I encounter each day have lost their minds, likely forever.
Meanwhile, rabid...
Have vise, will travel.
I'm fashioning some finish trim-work in my living room and am able to mount the new vise on the kitchen island. I can now plane-fit the boards without going down cellar every time. Only leaves behind a pile of wood shavings; no dust.
Well, I suppose in the end it comes down to an appreciation for old (or new, well-crafted or ingenious) tools, hardware, furniture, and so on. That's why I mention "the visceral enjoyment of the wooden screws" above--and I suppose it's why many folks like antique furniture, as well as vises...
Obviously, I would not remove the chain to use the wooden vise. It is long enough to hold the entire length of the bar and chain. That's why I thought it might work for arborists, but it was just an idea.
