    24" on a 550XP mk2

I’ll agree Madsen’s isn’t always that reliable. My Silvey razur sharp II was purchased from them though. Sure wish Silvey still made that machine. Again no mention of cutter angles? Are we talking stock off the roll square in the above example? Or something else versus what kind of round? 3/8...

    24" on a 550XP mk2

I’ve run a hell of a lot of square ground chain here in the Midwest too and I’ll state again my experience has been the opposite. The chain in my picture is converted stock Oregon LGX. I will run it round before I convert it. I get maybe a 10-15 tanks out of it before it’s dull. Sometimes less...

    24" on a 550XP mk2

Since it’s story time I’ll tell you one in return. My mom always used to cut the end off the ham when she would bake it. I asked her why she did that. Her reply was because your Grandmother used to do it that way. When I asked my grandmother why she did it that way she told me it was because the...

    24" on a 550XP mk2

I doubt there is anything I can post that will change anyone’s deeply held belief. Part of the problem is it is difficult to get quality pictures of the chain tooth. My experience has been as a tree guy cutting typical yard trees. With a mix of clean aerial wood and dirty ground wood. If your...

    24" on a 550XP mk2

It’s a pretty well established fallacy. I’ve been using square ground chain for a couple decades. My experience has been the opposite. I’ll stand by my above statement. Maybe check out some knowledgeable chain builders and educate yourself.

If your square ground chain is going dull faster than round you need better angles.

It’s cool you like them. I won’t hold it against you;) Having the advantage of running the ported saws that I have I can’t agree with you for my personal taste. Saw preference is always going to be such a subjective thing. Me I’m always grabbing something bigger or smaller than a 462. My ported...

    24" on a 550XP mk2

I think a 24” bar on a ported 550 in soft wood with sharp chain would be fine. Just a little slower than with a shorter bar. You’ll likely wear out av springs faster with the heavier setup on it but those can be replaced easy enough. As far as the 500 vs 462 deal the 462 is kind of the redhead...

    Gear bags backpack?

Yup that and inadvertently flopping a small spruce top on it. They are literally tree work accident proof.

    What the bananas

Yeah looks like the offspring of an unholy tryst between a bulldog bone, rope runner pro, and an akimbo.

    What the bananas

Looks super cool but I’m no longer buying brand new unproven gear right out of the gate. Learned my lesson the hard way with the isc ultraflop.

    Gear bags backpack?

Not sure anyone has mentioned it yet but the Teufelberger rope bucket works as a backpack. Fits a mountain of gear. Super beefy and bomber. You’ll pass it on to your grandkids.

    Rigging Mistake

Thanks for sharing Noah. It’s always helpful to hear how stuff went bad. Sorry you had a bad day and I’m glad nobody got hurt. I definitely wouldn’t have felt comfortable having one guy rig for 2 climbers off one device with two different ropes.

Google and other ID apps seem to be struggling with this one

Yep serious Fraxinus vibes from me too. Although I did learn something new about the mites in the male flower though. Thanks for that @ATH We don’t run into ash much anymore here in Michigan

    ISC UltraLink recall update

I agree with this. Never really saw the point. I keep a ct roll n lock on my saddle. Useful for so many different situations. Midline attachable, progress capture, small/light, but I would not use it as primary life support.
