HIAB Grapple saw cranes - videos

Hi guys I posted these promotional videos which I refer to as "Glory Shots". If you wouldn't mind can you give me some insight as to what you would like to see in any future video productions? We spend a lot of money on these and it would be nice to hear from guys in the field or first time...

    Attention Grapple Saw Truck Owners

I know with Covid right now it's pretty much impossible to cross the border here into Ontario however if this ends I have several customers that would be willing to spend the day with you and would be happy to do so. Please note that you being in the USA would prohibit me from quoting or...

Best knuckle boom for this application

You get what you pay for and what you are willing to sacrifice. In this industry to get something you give something. If you want a truck that can haul the wood out you need a bigger truck which typically means less turning radius.

Hi folks just wanted to share these videos we did on a couple of different models of HIAB with both the SG160 Mecanil and the 220. I hope you enjoy. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope...

    Crazy r/c cranes

This was amazing! LOL'd at the HIAB and noises at 8:47 and 21:84. Man it sounded and looked so realistic with the engine noises. This was great thanks for sharing.

    Tree monster

Which engine n chassis'd be best suited for mounting the crane behind the cab, and having a decent dump box n chipper towing capacity? Jemco Chassis model aside my advise is don't get locked into a specific engine that is only serviceable from the manufacturer so you are forced to go to that...

    This is a serious crane!

Man those are impressive!!! Got to love human ingenuity. Now if we could find a vaccine and get back to work so we could actually have jobs to use them.

    Tree monster

This is a nice little package with a fairly large crane for such a light truck. The only thing I would suggest is not using a cabover chassis for this configuration. One day the truck will not start and with the crane parked directly over the cab how will you access the engine? I know it seems...

    Tree cut weight formula?

Hi Steve thanks for your post and you make some very valid points especially concerning the capacity on the last manual extension which I make clear to all my customers. I'm the sole provider for my family and put food on our table of 5 by selling equipment for a living so it would be...

    Tree cut weight formula?

Hey guys fairly new poster here and hoping you can help me out. I'm a knuckleboom sales rep up here in Ontario Canada and I am looking for some info regarding weights when it comes to grapple saw cranes and the cuts they should be making. The one thing that concerns me is that when you make the...

    K-Boom with fixed rotating grapple?

FRF is a quality firm and they do great work. Congrats on your new truck I'm certain you will be very happy. Oceans I'm not an engineer so I'll explain it the way I see it in my simplistic way. Let's say you are a 12ft tall human being and have a 6ft branch in front of you that weighs 60lbs...

    K-Boom with fixed rotating grapple?

Yes I agree and I would suggest you do not consider it if this is the case. The dynamic stresses on such narrow diameter final extensions on a knuckleboom with a flyjib would eventually be structural failure with a fixed rotating grapple device.. The twist forces if you do something even...

    K-Boom with fixed rotating grapple?

It looks almost like a Vosch grapple that's been modified to fit on a knuckleboom. Typically these are used for excavators.

Looking to buy my first knuckle boom crane with a grapplesaw.

Hey GS my pleasure. The HIAB 505 was introduced this past August. Just to be clear I'm not on this site to flog my cranes and try and get a sale. I only sell in Ontario Canada and if anyone contacted me from the USA I would redirect them to their closest dealer in their state. I'm here to...

Looking to buy my first knuckle boom crane with a grapplesaw.

In the long run a Hiab 435K like Treezilla will outlast any equivalent flyjib crane. Less moving parts, less extensions and all the extensions especially the last one are incredibly robust, large and beefy which will handle the deflection after the cut is made much much better. It also costs...

    Which grapple saw crane?

I can't speak for the USA but In Canada it's HIAB - Palfinger. Whatever you buy, purchase it from a reputable company as close to your company as possible. Don't purchase something from a company too far away to not be able to stand in your salesmans door and service department when something...
