One long sketchy limb walk. This thing was pretty bouncy. In hindsight, I should have used another rope or repositioned my TIP. I used a bight in the rope under my RW to minimize a swing. @Richard Mumford-yoyoman showed me this trick at the ISA Competition in Nashville. Hey wasn’t comfortable...

Thanks folks! After researching and y’all’s advice, I decided to buy the Jameson 3 blue pole kit. On sale too. BTW…Fisker has the patent rights for my 20 year old unknown telescoping pole saw. I have favorite 15-20 year old power lever combo pruner with saw blade on it. I broke the pruning blade and the saw teeth are getting short from sharpening. I haven’t found a replacement blade for it. Anyway do you prefer the changeable head or the combo type and why? Was looking at Jameson and...

    Bolting or cable splitting tree

Thanks to all that commented on the discussion. HO wanted me to just drill holes and I replied with same price. I kinda figured that’s where this was going. The HO tried a DIY and got a spade bit stuck after asking a bunch of questions. I guess I’m too nice sometimes and brought my 1/2 hammer...

    Today....

Today was miserable. I was soaking wet with sweat before 8am. I had not even went up this tree. It was high humidity and 110 heat index. I did this solo rigging with slings and lowered branches. Worked pretty good. Climbing part was a “little “ fun.

    Bolting or cable splitting tree

I looked at this Sugar Maple today and I think it’s a goner. What y’all think. The homeowner wants to know if it can be saved by bolting or cabling. It’s a single trunk that Ys at about 6-7 ft. It’s split down to about 1.5ft. It was hit by the tornado a year ago. Has a full green canopy but a...

    New Grapple by Reg Coates

I got to use the RC Grapple again this past week. I was pruning some branches and limbs off a roof. The client’s insurance gave a cut them off or we cut your coverage. After I finished what I could reach from the tree, I had to get the rest from the end of the roof. The tree was too far to drop...
