Seems like loyalties are pretty set. I have to say that I firmly believe that the operator has so much to do with how a piece of equipment is perceived. That being said, I'm in the Avant camp. Never flipped, no broken panels, very little issues. 528 1400hrs. Pushed to the limit.
Dang, best of luck. Someone will show up. (equipment abuse is a real pet peeve for me)
Not to derail... My powers of observation come and go... Is the BCMA newish for you? if so, Awesome, congrats! If its been awhile, my bad, and late congrats!
I saw that too and was curious. Years back, I used a "green"? wheel... It worked, think it was for a rayco stumper , with the finger style cutters. It shrank down pretty quick against the tungsten. I switched my yellow jackets(2 cutting sides) on the vermeer to green teeth with 3 cutting...
Bamboo has a mind of its own... I just accepted that I have to cut a bunch every year. Thing is that our stand is at the base of a lake, no chemicals...just routine slaying, and creating shredded wheat chips that kinda suck
" Lichens are actually a sign of really good air quality and will grow on almost anything given the chance."
worth repeating, Loved observing them (lichens) out west on the rocks, in the Parks, and great plains. Noting the different colors too
"Local", like the level II one that I go to every work day? There are some others, around(ish), not sure how receptive they'd be. Did find out that a gallon of Anchor seal goes for about 48-50 bucks..
ideal... there in place forever
acceptable.... a few years, if cant, cut it up give to turner friend , make some cool pieces
unacceptable... not try anything, watch it crumble away. (especially if I cut it at the ground and relocate it)
I've heard "anchor seal" a few times now going to look into. Lots of great input. I really appreciate everyone's opinion. Especially those with/or having had some similar experiences. I'm hoping for the best. I think worse case (still good imo)
is multiple pieces. Preserving whole seems tough...
lots of great advice. There is a cavity in the top at the cut. Does covering it, temporarily( I'm thinking tin maybe), make sense? Ideally, flushing it, binding it(to keep from checking), keeping it indoors would be the choice. Then placing it somewhere after sealing as an outdoor piece is kind...
I have a friend that I keep supplied too, and usually get something awesome in return.
That tree has sentimental value to a lot of people that are buried here and I just don't think someone "stumbling" upon it would have the same connection. I was more thinking about preserving it in place, not...
We recently had to remove a large Oak (Scarlet) that has a gigantic Burl at the base. Everything but the burl is gone. Any tips on how to preserve. I've had my eye on this thing for years hoping i would never have to deal with this. The "can I have that(s)" are coming out of the woodwork. Its...
