I have only climbed a few times on my own property (old guy with a late mid life crisis) and was always nervous about getting hung up or hurt and needing rescue. The problem was that when climbing other than calling 911 I only had my roommate (older female) to rely on for rescue if I got hung up...

Jmcscrap, I think this is it, I found some info on it and the splotchy look on this guys arm looked similar to my shin.
cerviarborist, pretty sure its the pine itself. I have taken down a few Oaks and a Locust and never had an issue.
On a serious note: I probably will at least buy some chaps. I know saying I have cut trees for 45 yrs and not needed them is about as dumb as the guy who drinks and drives and makes the same excuse.

I am no doubt the least experienced guy on this board, but I am about 230 with gear and I have found good success with a 28" 10mm cord. For me the small stuff would jam up big time.
Its harder to fire a plug gap under load than free revving.
Take out the plug and close the gap by about 10 thousandths and see if this clears it up. If it does then its showing that something in the ignition system is weak...often a coil assembly is the culprit.
