Mine doesn't hockle, didn't even milk really. It has a different wiry feeling to it, which seems to eliminate a lot of that issue. Cary has been on it for quite a while though, so his input would be interesting.
big yes on wool. Thinner in the summer and thicker in the winter with thin polypropylene liners. Wicking is great and wool naturally kills odor. Check sierra trading post for good deals...

I climb nasty topped elms regularly in bend. Hard to tell how big the new growth is in the pic, but I will climb some pretty tiny stuff... I usually inspect the attachment to where the old topping cut was made and make a decision from there. My only dislike of multiple tie-ins on small diameter...

Agreed, nice and bright! During initial break in the rope is very 'wiry', but breaks in nicely and is a great performer. Thanks swing, I spliced that one suuper tight!

Silly argument. If a fire is 2/3 up in the canopy, it's pretty much gone already. I think of cabling as an added means of support, not 100%. If a cable is supporting 100% of a compromised leader, branch, whatever, then there's already a problem before you add fire to the equation.
