Someone please design an industrial level version of the fiskar telescoping pole pruner

It does, but it pulls the shotgun grip with it. It'll smash your holding hand if you're not paying attention. Maybe that's just different enough to work around another design?

Someone please design an industrial level version of the fiskar telescoping pole pruner

I bought a Felco pruner. It's longer than my fiskars, but but weighted well and is pretty light. Smooth action. I didn't realize the rope runs in groove on the outside of the shaft. It's still a 2 to 1 pulley at the head, but one side is terminated at the extension joint so when you pull the...

I haven't seen that yet. Looks like the ticket.

Someone please design an industrial level version of the fiskar telescoping pole pruner

In other searches, I came across this unit by Felco. Appears to work similarly as the Stik, but telescopic. Does anybody have any experience with it? I figured Felco would make a solid one. Felco Telescoping Pole Pruner

    Tree Cracking from Freezing

During the bad ice storm in '21, we had freeze cracks in our live oaks. The freeze happened right as their buds were swelling in mid February and we had 4 solid days of below freezing temperatures. In central Texas, we get some freezes, but usually no more than 24 hours below freezing. I think...

    Yale scandere

I bought some and couple years ago. Lots of stretch for SRS, but I keep it in rotation for MRS. Cover jives well with mechanical devices. Its wonderful with my spiderjack.

Tree related work you shouldn't need insurance for?

I accept the fact that I'll never be even close benefits paid out with what I pay for insurance (GL, health, auto, etc). But lawyers...unfortunately you can sue for anything and there are some people that feel they are the victim in far too many circumstances.

    Vandals. Grrr!

Go talk to his dad and mom. I remember the shame of my neighbor showing up telling my parents what they saw me doing. It also proves you know where he lives...

Games, competitions, and levity at work

Play horse with throwball shots during trainings. Wager who can roll the electric hose reel up the cleanest without any stops. Those sound really lame when I think about y'all reading them.

    Office Space

I deal with a tree company as a subcontractor that has a remote administrator. She works out of her house, schedules and administrates without ever going in to the shop. Do you think you'd lose anything if that person didn't report to the "office"?

Oak wilt disease documented in northeastern Massachusetts?

I'll echo the DNA testing. It's not sensitive to the timing and temperature like the culture tests and the results are quick. I typically send in three of the best samples I can. It's easy to get a false negative due to the irregularities is the final growth within in the canopy. Even with three...

Are living trees warmer than dead trees?

I know water takes longer to cool and heat compared to air. That's why a fresh cut stump can feel cooler on a hot day or oak wilt can still spread in the vascular tissue in the hottest of days. Some of the best freeze protection for your landscape in the south is to irrigate your plants before a...

    S

I was a sales arborist for about 3 years, ten years ago. I loved it. I don't do it anymore; I prefer the sawdust and smell of diesel in the morning. It is still the highest I've ever been paid. I have thick skin and felt like more of a therapist than an arborist at times. When I interviewed, my...

    Certified tree climber certification evaluator

I finally got the CTC this past November, after about a year after the initial application. The written test was a breeze to schedule, but the skills portion was unavailable for quite some time. I believe most of that time was due to the rebranding ISA did and the local chapter was sorting...
