$250 for basic can climb and get deadwood. $350-$500 can handle what you put in front of him efficiently. Cant think of any senerio i would pay $1000 for some one to just climb.

So Buck, slow up a moment. You just said a bunch that i didnt even say. Never accused you of anything. Just using an analagy to illustrate this all or nothing attitude. Outlaw cars and soap was no where in my post. You missed my point.

Cut from the same cloth as the arguement that if you cant stop ALL gun violence then we shouldnt bother to try and prevent any. After all people die in car accidents and die slipping on soap in the shower and we dont outlaw cars and soap so why attempt to prevent any gun deaths. When did...

Define to yourself why you want to have your own business. If its for the money you may reconsider. For me it was i wanted to do things my way, money wasnt the primary reason. Sure the money will come but only after years of commitment and work. Owning a tree business is a life style.

    Sc292 stump grinder?

I own a 252. Its a 2007 paid 8k. 13k sounds a bit high. Definatly newer but you arent going to get better performance because its newer. Anything 24" and bigger is a pain. spend a bit more for a bigger grinder. You can get an older 1 for half the price. 1 good thing its a tough simple machine so...

New to bidding work with crane rental. Curious about your thoughts....

Sorry if the breakdown was confusing. generally most big backyard trees $1000 crane $800 labor $1500 for me $200 wood disposal total $3500 easy day everyone goes home early paid for 8hours. Same tree backyard same money, $3500. I make $1000 more. Everyone works 3x harder and all day. I will do...

New to bidding work with crane rental. Curious about your thoughts....

Liability wise the crane company is working for me they are my sub, not working direct for the homeowner. If something happens after the pick is fully connected/controled by the crane it is my responsiblity to take care of the damage with HO. Then its between myself and the crane company to hash...

New to bidding work with crane rental. Curious about your thoughts....

I like to say profit to effort ratio. Yes 2 days at $2000 each day versus 1day at $2000 is more money but the effort to do it without the crane in 2 days is x3. If you do a reasonable amount of removals that grinds the crew down. I will take 1 easy day at $2000 versus 2 hard days at $4000. IMO...

Is there any money in stump grinding??....

Thats a good idea. The clean up is tedious and time consuming. I plan on buying a much bigger grinder so maybe that will cut time and bring profitability up.

Is there any money in stump grinding??....

Does the landscaper do the clean up for free? $1600 is that before or after you pay for the clean up.

Is there any money in stump grinding??....

Imo stump grinding isnt profitable. It makes getting to removal job more streamlined. I generally dont just do stump grinding. Hard to get proper money. By the time i do the estimate and send my guy or myself to do the job its low margin. Example 30" stump at ground level for $300, thats $10 per...

    What Grinds Your Gears?

The dumb ass with the blower making dust when there is brush still to drag. The groundie who keeps pulling the lowering line up when i am not ready or nowhere near anything to lower. The homeowner or groundie who keeps asking what i am going to do next. Neon green work shirts, having to wear...

If you could only have one??????

Not sure if the question is for me but I own a mini, CTX 100, chip truck, chipper etc.The mini is very productive when handling material for sure. I guess if we are talking about landscaping and other work past tree work then you have to decide what part is priority. If we are talking about...
