Fu*%face Von Clownstick

He was hand picked by the populace and is still polling around 40% approval (take polls for what you will). And it's not like these people didn't know what they were getting. He's literally been there before and said what he was going to do next time around. The thing that is truly terrifying is that this what a large segment of the population WANTS.

Say the Dems win the midterms, impeach Trump and remove him from office. Then you get Vance and you're still not actually rid of Trump. He still has his followers and influencers.
Trump's approval ratings are hovering in the high 30's which means that by a fairly wide margin a majority of Americans disapprove of what he is doing. That is a good thing because it is an indictor that things might just be shifting down here. America's struggles have to be won at the ballot box. Plain and simple.

He had about a 5 point drop in April, but has been fairly consistent since then with most of the shifts falling within the polling margins of error.

Disapproving is one thing, but people have to turn out to vote. And even then I doubt he would go quietly. Last time he encouraged a riot. This time around he has a much more loyal VP and is assembling his own private army.

editing to say the entire western world because MAGA-esque rhetoric is happening everywhere
You have the cart in front of the horse bro. That kind of rhetoric was around long before Trump ever showed up on the scene, so Donny really ain't saying anything new.

He's definitely not new, but he is extreme and he is giving empowerment to the movement worldwide. We have fucking Canadians wearing MAGA hats and our politicians mimicking his rhetoric. There are obviously other influences that are propelling that movement, but Trump is front and center most of the time.

"The U.S. economy added 584,000 jobs in 2025, the slowest annual growth outside of a recession since 2003, reflecting the low-hire, low-fire labor market conditions that have prevailed during the first year of President Donald Trump’s second term.'

70,000 manufacturing jobs were lost during the first year of Trump's second term.

So much for MAGA.

Sure there is trump, but this is also a global issue. One doesn’t have to look too far back in history with political shifts with economics and pandemics. Often resulting in huge nationalist shifts.
Add in globalism and the big powers you simply get where we are at today.

I am not usually one to post in political threads, as I am in the minority here and don’t wish for contention. However, I received a phone call this evening that has prompted a post in this thread.

The family of a former employee of mine (he had to leave trees for a while for health reasons, but he was expecting to get back to it this Spring) called me to ask if I could recommend a lawyer.

My former employee, whom I’ll call Marco, was picked up by ICE back in November. Now mind you, he has a green card he just got last year, after nearly 20 years working in this country and tens of thousands spent on lawyers and paperwork. Therefore, he is legal. He owns a house here, which is paid for. He has a wife and kids here. Owns a paid-for pickup truck here, and has worked and paid taxes here for more than two decades. Seems like the kind of person we should desire to have in this country.

Since he’s been in custody, his family called a lawyer and paid more than $10,000 to help Marco get out. Turns out the lawyer was a scammer, so now they’re pretty well broke as well as missing a husband and father. That makes me just as mad as the fact that ICE picked him up to begin with.

All this makes me want to do something, but there’s not an awful lot I can do besides help his family find a good lawyer and pray that Marco gets out and can get back to work and his family quickly.

I’m against illegal immigration, yes, but I also believe as a Christian that we are responsible to help those who need it, and believe as an American that we need people like Marco in this country. This is a nation of immigrants, let’s not chase all the good ones away!

Trump's own immediate ancestors were German immigrants; his actual family name is not even Trump. (It is Drumpf, changed because it is largely unpronounceable to any non-Teutonic individual). Two of his gold-digging trophy wives are immigrants as well, including the last one, the invisible first lady Melania.

I believe I have heard that, but it’s been a while. I appreciate the reminder!

Thank you @Reach for commenting and bringing a personal perspective to the matter, rather than ragebait and inflammatory comments (myself included). These are the things people need to hear.
Yes, I believe that stories like this are what need to be heard. Outrage in and of itself is not wrong, anger and rage can in fact be right, if properly directed and used.

I use Jesus as an example of that myself, when he went through the Jewish temple in Jerusalem with a whip and drove out the dishonest money changers and merchants who were ripping off those who came from out of town to worship there. There’s a time to sit back and keep quiet, and there’s a time to step up and do something.

Thanks for sharing this Reach. Kinda puts it all in perspective and paints a very different picture as to the kind of people a vast majority of immigrants are. They are in fact not much different than you and I, and want the same basic things in life. Peace, safety, security, a roof over their head, and decent job, good food on the table, and to spend time with their loved ones. Reality doesn't really jive with the boogie man MAGA is trying to sell us, does it..

Your story of Marco is one of cruelty on top of cruelty on top of cruelty. Unfortunately it is not an uncommon story in this current version of the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I hope and pray that Marco, his wife, and his children can get the help they need. This seems to have stirred something inside you, so go fight that fight. Please keep us posted...

Even though I'm in the portion that would be expected to not attract attention...tall, old, white guy...when I'm out in public I keep my head on swiv el

Look around

Stay away from groups of vehicles...esp black SUVs
Stay away from strobe lights

The Twin CIties mayors and our AG have filed a lawsuit. The trick is to find a law to use by the state against the Feds. Then...if the lawsuit is successful how/who enforces it?
