I appreciate the notion here, but it's not people like you that are the concern. Consider the margins, and the fact that there are so many people who know Trump is a fascist and a criminal, and don't want to vote for him, yet have absorbed so much propaganda that they think Biden is pure evil and can't vote for him either. Many of them are so ridiculous that they just default to basic team loyalty and just vote red anyway because that is tradition for them and theirs. And then there're folks that will instead vote for RFK, whose campaign has been funded by the trump camp via backchannels for expressly this reason. Biden will mostly win votes because of the fear of trump, so literally anyone put on the Dem ticket will get those by default, but they need someone that inspires people who just dislike Biden so much to vote against rump in a coordinated way to ensure his defeat. Not that the candidate has to be inspiring, but rather that they not inspire hatred based on bullshit.Basically, for me, whoever is running against Trump has my vote. If it is Joe, he has my vote. A decent, experienced, well-meaning man, even if partly senile, is a better choice than a selfish, negative, divisive, egotistical, vindictive, lying felon and moron who, please remember, is not much younger than Joe and is half senile and delusional himself. Trump is encouraging the very worst qualities Americans are capable of, just as Hitler and others encouraged it in their countries. We have seen the nation's white trash and bigots come out from under their rocks en masse to support him, along with the more uneducated and gullible elements of the population who simply don't see through his BS. And the pathetic state of our education system and shamefully low rate of literacy has ensured that this level of ignorance and gullibility is far more widespread than is safe for a democracy that depends on an intelligent and informed vote. I don't think the country can take four more years of a Trump presidency without permanent damage to us and our allies globally.
i think kamala harris has the record, the charisma, and the political savvy to also lose miserably to donald trumpI can't believe Joe is still in, it's absolutely insane. Pretty much anyone else would be a sure bet. Makes no sense.
They need to throw a curveball and try running Berniei think kamala harris has the record, the charisma, and the political savvy to also lose miserably to donald trump

It's never too late to seek common ground with people you naturally come into direct contact with. I always redirect the conversation from manufactured noise when I hear it and try to move the conversation into areas where we agree. I listen closely and intently, and look for the roots of why they are regurgitating the specific talking point they're on, and address the root concerns, identifying them specifically and coherently. I get to see that look in peoples eyes when they actually consider the contradiction in their actual feelings about the world and what they regurgitatate from media. I haven't heard anyone reverse their opinion, but that isn't the point. My neighbors and community members know me, and know that we are actuallt more alike than different. They know I am not the boogeyman, and they have told me that if things get hard, they have my back. I live in a tiny neutral island in a huge red sea, and I don't worry about that. People talk a lot of shit, but most won't actually hurt people. That takes some serious depravity. I do expect people will feel more comfortable yelling at you in public, but whatever.Maybe it's just paranoia, and I hate to admit it, but I fear for my safety should trump be reelected. I feel like I have a target on my back in the eyes of the maga folks. It's a weird feeling but hopefully just all in my head. Either way, there's lots of anger swirling around in this concocted culture war.
I don't think your fears are unfounded. My two most rump-leaning neighbors go way out of their way to tell everyone how they just got guns (for "protection"). Meanwhile, the Bosnian War, and others, reveal that neighbors kill neighbors with little remorse.Uh, sorry dudes, was just an off hand comment, wasn't looking to get into it ...so I deleted. My bad, carry on.
There are FAR too many parallels with Germany in the Thirties. All that is missing is the Great Depression. Americans are already used to shooting each other over things as trivial as road rage, a price increase at the gas pump, an argument with neighbors over the property line, etc.I don't think your fears are unfounded. My two most rump-leaning neighbors go way out of their way to tell everyone how they just got guns (for "protection"). Meanwhile, the Bosnian War, and others, reveal that neighbors kill neighbors with little remorse.
I watched a documentary where a small-town North-West sheriff revealed an official to-do list written by local white supremacists. It included killing gays, liberals, and Jews, and a litany of other immoral crimes.
These people can't wait to be given the go-ahead from rump.
He didn’t do anything I’m sure. What did you do, Levi, to make you feel like that; and how does Trump being elected make them more dangerous to you?
