GRCS mounting mod

I love the Goods on big removals. I love the options it opens up for overhead rigging, for tensioning and lifting and dealing with big pieces. My main issue has been with the mounting system. I never liked how the trucking strap sat on that big floppy side-wing. That wing always seems to want to rotate when the strap gets tight, which flexes the mounting plate out from the tree and keeps all 4 large rubber pucks from making good contact with the trunk. So here's a mod that I like that solves the mounting issue.

I bought a second strap-hook receiver for the right side, and replaced the trucking strap plate with it. Now both sides are symmetrical. Then I bought a 4 inch ratchet strap handle to replace the trucking strap hardware, and I ditched the long bar. Now my Goods installs the same as any other fixed bollard, same as the Steins or the GB bollard. Easier and more accurate installation, and same specs as the original design, straps have same WLL of 5400 lb.

Interesting! Have you had any slippage of the frame while taking large chunks? I presume you can’t get the strap as tight as you can with the winch bar or am I wrong? I have questions lol
How about cutting off one of the flat hooks and pinning that directly to the frame instead. Making it all one unit.

I use the visor plate for removals, haven't had any slippage issues. No way of measuring the tightness, but I think I can get this as tight as the trucking strap. On the trucking strap you are winding against the entire length of the strap because of how it wraps on the spool, so a lot of the cranking power goes into taking the slack out of the whole thing. But with a ratchet strap, you start by taking the slack out before you get cranking, so you're really only tightening against the portion that's in play on the tree.

Yeah, ditching the bar is a huge plus for me. There's been a couple times this year that we loaded the Goods onto the truck and forgot to grab the bar, so we couldn't even use the damn thing on site...

Way less gaumy, and don’t need to mess with the springless latch on the oem which is annoying. Curious what Mr. Good’s input would be.

I'll be doing this Muggs Mod as well. I'll keep the truck strap for the big girthy trees.
Never used the visor yet. I always leave it behind with so much else to carry. I don't have the right angle drill either.....more to carry. Drill, charger, and a pair of batts.

Me likes the Muggs Mod. Thanks for sharing brother.

Iv'e had my eye out for a new storage/transport method. Was thinking about the Pelican military cases. Have to give the regular travel luggage a go.

Been using a 6gal milkcrate. The weight has broken 2 of those while carrying.
