Sorry to hear it! Good reminder. I had Lyme twice in the last year even with diligent checks.

I learned some years ago that the incidence of Lyme in California is significantly lower due to the ticks feeding on Blue Bellied Lizards that have some kind of natural antibodies to the bacteria.

Did 4 removals for him a few months ago, just cut to rounds and leave lay. A maple removal coming next and some more pruning trees for sunlight.

The wife is a dedicated gardener and they also grow lots of dahlias for fun, selling some/ most at a roadside, honor-system flower stand.

In 40-some years of living there, they shade has begun to tower over them.


Locally, there is another roadside honor-system flower stand that raised money for charity. Good folks.
 
interesting spruce removal today for another company. somebody had guyed the group of spruce against a big willow. the willow fell over though…and a couple of crispy alder trees (no climbing obviously)

Simple, small, tulip poplar take down and haul away today. It was a beautiful tree, but was diseased, covered with and dripping black stickiness. Started with pole saw, then loaded trailer. Then climbed it, dropping branches and piecing down the stem. Very hot here in Eastern West Virginia. And of course I cut down all my shade.

Possibly. Oil and insecticide treatments, I read. The homeowner had that information (from another arborist) but was sick of the honeydew and wanted it to go away. The fact that the house came with more trees and bushes than he wanted also played a part. My goal is to be more knowledgeable in this area by end of summer. For this job it was a simple take down and haul away.
I was pleased that one Milwaukee battery (M18 XC8.0) tackled the whole job except for the bottom 6 feet of the trunk. Battery first powered the pole saw, then the top-handle saw.

Oh man. I'm so so sorry to hear that. I stumbled across the work of Dr. Jerry Tennant. Have you seen any of his work? Seems interesting. I'm really sorry to hear this Rico.
 
Doing storm work today on a Norway maple, big piece broken out and hung up over top of a treehouse-type thing. Had 2 porta-wraps installed but needed a third line with control. I took the tail of the sling, tucked it through a pocket, put a carabiner on there and used a munter. Worked great. A nice quick option to add an extra control line if you use a porty with an ultra/pocket sling...

This old wound seemed hard and solid to the touch, but when the insides were exposed, it was rotted all the way in. I dug those bits out with a gentle poke.
