New Saddle Shopping

A saddle is a very personal piece of gear. That's why most arb stores allow returns as long as you haven’t worked in it, and it is in as new condition. Try it on, get it adjusted, and hang in it to see if its a good fit...If not, send it back. Done it a few times myself..
Good to know. May try that with the other saddles I've wanted to try, or just spring for the mb off the bat. Doesn't sound like I'll be disappointed

Ha! Yeeeeha. The zip ties just hold it in place, I have a carabiner through it too but it’s a screw gate and do want to get around to see if a screw link could fit. It’s the old Mumford adjustable bridge with a little bit of a spin. Nothin fancy, it’s backed up, and the roll’n’lock acts as a mechanical knot block.
You can kinda make out what I have going on. There is an older pear hms petzl screw gate through the eye of the roll’n’lock and through the outside of the suspension webbing.
The tail of the adjustable bridge is just looped through a gear carabiner to keep the tail tidy and out of the way. It’s not tied off to anything and has a stopper knot.
As I said it’s simply just an adjustable backup bridge and really is only load bearing when I suck it in.IMG_2479.jpeg

I also have one bridge a hair shorter than the other for redundancy, and would employ my adjustable in a similar way. I like how your setup keeps the adjuster on the outside of the bridge area, and am strongly leaning towards that setup for that reason. Thanks.

I am a huge fan of the TM, mine is expired now though. (Why does Teufelberger say 5yr lifespan)
At work I've been using a Seqoiua SRT since 2020, with the rated Top, as well as a chest ascender integrated. I have two bridges on that, one adjustable with the rolln'lock, the other stock. Great harness for my purposes, which is a mix of arb and rope access, I never liked it much for spur work of far limbwalks, the padding would hurt my hips right where the side D's sit.
Looking at the Treerex next, partly because we get very good prices for Edelrid, and options for saddles with a fall arrest top are very limited. I've tried the Treerex a couple of times, it is very comfortable, I would probably even say on par with the TM. I like that it comes with an adjustable bridge, and the option for a second bridge. Also pretty customizable as far as gear loops are concerned.
Unfortunately, my Sequoia isn't going to last till the updated Treerex comes out next year, that will come in a Size 0 (I'm right at the edge of size 1) and will feature a connection at the back for the Vector Y Top from Edelrid.

Edelrids new Treeraptor was also very comfortable when I tried it. It's more for the budget conscious climber, less options. The elastic underbelt similar to the Notch sentinel is nice though.

One thing both of their saddles have is a super easy to adjust riser between upper and lower D's you can do that on the fly, not like the Treemotion where you need half an hour and some tools to get that buckle to move.

I've been wanting to try the treerex. Haven't looked at the treeraptor at all. I didn't know about the update coming for that saddle, may be incentive to get something else and try it next year. Thank you for the thought out response!

This is from ITCC 2023. I have a few more somewhere but cannot locate at the moment. I have 2 new TM evos, but will buy this in a heartbeat when it lands. I would never use anothet harness but a TM. But this......whoa sure...
Do we know when it's supposed to drop? I need a new harness, but it may be worth it to get something cheaper and wait for it to come out

Wait, wait for this.....do not buy a harness til this comes out this year. Makes no sense. 100% DMM. Treemagineers are producing it... Mark Bridge etc...

Why? It doesn't look significantly different from the current TM models. Why all the hoopla?

No probs, you can gift or sell the sentinel on Treebay. It is a win.

Dave the hoopla is it is diff, the hardware is trusted DMM. Materials are top spec and bridge setup will be tweeked for better WP options. My info is from someone testing it and a very good trainer and comp climber. The current TM pro is a huge step backwards, will not get into it's flaws, so this will be a much better offering to those who like this style harness. Such as myself. If it is not for a certain type of climber no issues. Like I never look at other harnesses. They do not appeal to me one bit.

Looks like the TreeMagineers were able to have rights on the materials and overall design. When I heard they were coming out with a new offering, I was excited but also wondered how it was earthly possible to top their original design. Looks like they see it the same way and kept a great thing going.

One thing I think could be improved is the knot blocks on the bridge. Every once in a while they snag things which can be annoying. They have a few bridge options, currently, and I know one of them is a fixed length (heavy webbing, I believe) which solves the problem. I may actually try that out since I’m due for a bridge soon.

There’s just so much to say about how great the saddle material is, and just how many options it provides for gear layout. Just unreal.

You know we agree on this. Take me back to 2012 trying to come off a sequoia I totally messed witb my first one only to buy another and your climber then took my old one. Been through many since. I currently have 3 sitting here. One new Evo is Sam's. I LOVE a TM. 20240204_211640.jpg

You’ve always been a minimalist and really tidy. Jus keep dem hands off me cast iron pans wid dat soap, bredren.

Seriously…I am a bit envious of you in that way. I keep a clean site, but dang I can get scattered between the 3 trucks. It’s getting better And hopefully a proper shop is coming before too much longer.
