Did you get the same ones back, or replacements? They made it sound like they were going to issue new ones.Received my refurbished units today, via FedEx.
Hmm, I'll have to check the serial numbers later. My Nexus swivels don't look new. Kind of beat up.Did you get the same ones back, or replacements? They made it sound like they were going to issue new ones.
That's exactly what I thought right from the beginning. Didn't know about the free carabiner of course, but found it bizarre that the end user is responsible for partially disassembling and then reassembling these life safety units. Makes no sense to me at all.It seems strange that they are comfortable trusting us to reinstall the shackle and use Loctite when they could have simply installed a new shackle at the factory for probably less than the cost of the free biner. Not a lot of logic involved there.

I got my Director back yesterday. It came without a new shackle but with a free Ultra O biner. It seems strange that they are comfortable trusting us to reinstall the shackle and use Loctite when they could have simply installed a new shackle at the factory for probably less than the cost of the free biner. Not a lot of logic involved there.
Isn't the whole point of the shackle units that they are able to be disassembled to be put on various things? It's not complicated. You wouldn't send a saddle in for bridge replacement because you're afraid of tying the stopper knots wrong. That's exactly what I thought right from the beginning. Checked mine and they are different serial numbers from what I sent in. Both are newer, but the serial numbers place the date of manufacture before the recall.I have just verified that I didn't get back the same serial numbers. If the year of manufacturing is coded into the SN in the way I think it is, I seem to have gotten older units than I sent in.
Well I took them apart in November so maybe I can find them, eventuallyIf you can't safely put your shackle back on you shouldn't be allowed to have one. Send it to me.
My wife will be glad the shackles are finally off the dinning room table. If FedEx ever gets them to me. Can't say as I blame the FedEx driver. He comes from a town 70 miles from here to deliver to me. 140 miles round trip to bring Dave his package. I know it pisses him off every time he gets a package addressed to me. I would be pissed too. Probably show up tomorrow.Well I took them apart in November so maybe I can find them, eventually
I didn't say it was complicated. Also I don't use mine that way and the removable nature of the shackle isn't important to my use, but the size of the shackle eye is. This is not about the practical ease of taking the shackle on and off. It is about asking the end user to do something that they should do as a courtesy for us, especially on a recalled item. And no, you can't have mine!Isn't the whole point of the shackle units that they are able to be disassembled to be put on various things? It's not complicated.
